I'm not ready. In fact, it's going to be 83 degrees today, and
I'm taking the afternoon off to go out on the lake. When we
come back in this evening, I'll have to tie back up in a
different slip so the entire dock we're on can be replaced in November.

I'm not ready either. But...the leaves have started their merry
trip to earth, and I've not even

gotten a good start on the bumper crop of acorns we had this year.

Don't ever buy a house with twelve big oak trees thereon.

Too late... we have nothing but 90 foot tall oaks. Huge acorns.
But our leaves are just now starting to get some color. Squirrels
are going "nuts" right now. I bought one of these a couple years
ago... worth every penny.

I bought one of these 13 years ago and I haven't had to do anything with

leaves but run over them with it.

http://www.toro.com/en-us/homeowner/mowers/walk-power-

mowers/Pages/Series.aspx?sid=Super-Recycler

When my leaves are at full-tilt, I'd have to use that every other
day, and the bag would have to be emptied 20 times. My riding
mower, with the two huge bags, is useless after 4-5 days.

I don't use the bagger. I just run over the leaves and they disappear.

You need a few more trees!

I have had to pay to have a few of them cut down over the past couple of

years. One was an 80 foot tall blue spruce that fell over in a wind

storm. $1000 to have it removed and the fence repaired. Then there was

the 80 foot tall Norway maple that needed to be cut down, $1500, because

it had a Y that was splitting to the ground. There were two wires

holding it together about 40 feet up.

This doesn't count all of the work done on the other trees over the last

13 years.

Fortunately, I have a huge natural area in the back that I can blow the leaves into.

My neighbors get ****ed when I throw our dog poop over the fence into

their yard. I suppose they would have the same problem if I blew my

leaves into their yard.

I really don't believe you throw the dog poop into their back yard!

Luckily my wife takes the dogs for a walk every day and they eat and

poop while on their walk. The problem is that my wife brings the poop

home and tosses it into our trash can. It is not pleasant around the

trash can in the summer time.

Good for her being a responsible dog owner.
I have a dedicated trash can lined with a large garbage bags for that purpose.
It would be a perfect spot to dispose of any unwelcome vermin that might
come onto my property uninvited.

Thanks for the reminder. We've all seen photos of your front yard
littered with trash cans and other debris. What a disgusting pig sty.
Your property must be a *vermin magnet*.

You'd best stay away from your former BFF, Snotty.
His disease seens to be highly contageous.

Pestilence and disease is something your poor neighbors have to deal with.
BTW: Your posts are riddled with spelling errors, lately. Wassup with that?

At the same time it has exposed the latest krause incarnation...:)

Glad you could have a great time, Bob. I never got to use my boat this
year. The mid-west drought brought the water levels in the lakes to a
dangerous level. Oh, I probably could have taken the little 18 footer
out, but I didn't want to risk ripping up another lower end... The
13 footer, would have been guaranteed destruction.

I just called the marina to see if I could bring my boat in today. They are taking nothing until
after Hurricane Sandy (named after my wife!). They're on the Potomac River and are really worried
about a tidal surge flooding the whole damn place.

Hope all remains well with them.

Do you have some kind of blight where you are? I've lost 3 blue spruced
in the past year, and looking around the area, I see quite a few sickly
blue spruces. I haven't heard of any blights, but the blue spruces don't
look healthy.

I've also got a 1/2 acre of Norway spruces that seem to be thinning out.
I don't think that is a blight though, more likely old age.

I keep a little trash can out by the side of the garage with a plastic grocery bag therein. After
walking the dogs, I throw the poop bag there, and then empty it into the big trash can on trash day.
Works pretty well.

Oh, I get my poop bags here now: http://www.uline.com/BL_5577/Newspaper-Bags

Hell, 2000 for $51. Much cheaper than at the store!

Do you have some kind of blight where you are? I've lost 3 blue spruced
in the past year, and looking around the area, I see quite a few sickly
blue spruces. I haven't heard of any blights, but the blue spruces don't
look healthy.

I've also got a 1/2 acre of Norway spruces that seem to be thinning out.
I don't think that is a blight though, more likely old age.

I think it was Spruce we lost here a couple decades back from something,
shag bark hickory is very rare too I think I remember my dad saying
something about something that hit them too.

Oooops, just remembered it wasn't spruce although they did get hit

The poster I mentioned above seems to get off on snarky posts. I suppose
that is ok with the majority of posters here, since most of you tolerate
it.

I have a buddy through work who boats and fishes out of the Virginia Beach

because of the nastiness. Seems to be a fairly common happening. Ever
wonder why?

Religion and politics.

Your word usage, attitude, selectivity, and statements sound more and
more like a poster whose
'handle' (xman) has been absent for a while. One of the folks here
discovered some of his tax
evasion, and he suddenly departed the AO.

If you already knew this was a nasty place to be, why did you show up?
Did you think your being a
responsible federal law officer would change things?

Bye.

Word usage? Too many? Too small? Too big? Big or small sentence? I guess
being a fan of civility makes me a target for some here.

Also I posted here before I talked to my buddy in Virginia beach.

You have few newbies here. Ever wonder why? Do you prefer not to have any?

Don't know from spider mites, my one blue spruce started having lower
branches die on me over a couple of years. When I cut it down, the trunk
was discolored, so I figured some kind of blight. We did have a wooly
aglid infestation several years ago. It wiped out several once very
pretty ravines in the area. It seems just about any tree around here
eventually gets some sort of a disease. Dutch elm, chestnuts, spider
mites, wooly aglids, etc. etc.

Gee, Meyer, why are you so snarky? A guy says he picks up after his dog and
you go after him for that. Why are youso concerned about where someone
lives? You must live in a mansion, right?

Gee, Empacher Fan, why are you, a responsible federal law official,
getting involved in the trivial
bull****? And, why do you seem to focus your attentions in one direction only?

Your 'above it all' attitude lasted what - almost a week?

I've already filtered out a couple of the nastier posters here, and there
are a few more on my watch list. I think it was you to whom I posted
earlier this week that I am not a fan of on-line nastiness and I didn't
think reasonable posters should sit on their hands when they observe it.
The poster I mentioned above seems to get off on snarky posts. I suppose
that is ok with the majority of posters here, since most of you tolerate
it.

I have a buddy through work who boats and fishes out of the Virginia Beach
area. Talked to him last weekend, says he gave up posting here years ago
because of the nastiness. Seems to be a fairly common happening. Ever
wonder why?

Rent some space in your yard to store a couple of boats :)

Do you have some kind of blight where you are? I've lost 3 blue spruced
in the past year, and looking around the area, I see quite a few sickly
blue spruces. I haven't heard of any blights, but the blue spruces don't
look healthy.

No blight. We have clay soil. There was a line of the spruces planted in
front of the old farm house next door. I don't know how long ago the
trees were planed. One became dislodged from the soil when Ivan came
through a few years ago and it was leaning towards my neighbors hose.
The roots were not very deep, maybe 2 to 3 feet. The one in my yard that
was blown over was felled by a sudden storm with winds gusting to 70
MPH. Its root ball was the same depth. The last spruce was taken down as
a precaution because it had a bent trunk and in the wind you could see
the root ball lifting, just after the wind blew down tree 2.

I've also got a 1/2 acre of Norway spruces that seem to be thinning out.
I don't think that is a blight though, more likely old age.

We still have one of the Norway Maples and we have a huge "pine" tree in
the middle of our back yard. The tree guy trimmed all of the branches
off up to 40 feet and then thinned out the branches above. We had 20
branches falling during heavy snows and ice storms.

I had my boat out on Friday cruising the harbour and circling three harbour islands plus buzzing a large cruiseship.
Guess it's time for winterization.
Since the boat was brand new this year, I'll probably pay the $200 to have the dealer winterize it.
I've received my Navigloo cover from Costco to protect the boat over our long damp winters.

Get a custom cover. You will regret the generics.

I do have the custom cover for the boating season but it's not recommended for heavy snowfall. This Navigloo shelter is an alternative to shrinkwrap.

Get a proper cover. They might run close to $500 but that's a bargain
to keep your boat in good shape.
