It's hard for me to even get on board with issues like this, growing
up in CT, a state where there is basically "no" free open land for
anything... I fume at the AMA for never doing anything for us here.....

When I was growing up in DC we could go out to the wilds of Maryland
(where the beltway is now) and hunt. Of course I can still remember
when there was an anti aircraft base at the junction of Indian Head
Highway and Oxon Hill Road (now under the beltway interchange). That
whole area from there to the river was undeveloped woods.
The "National Harbor" area was dotted with duck blinds.

Hunting on Fort Belvoir was legal back in the mid-70's. Did a lot of quail hunting out Rt. 50, just
beyond I-66. Now you'd have to drive damn near to Winchester to find a place to hunt - if you knew
the farmer.
