I'm still flo[[oing back and forth on what to do about a new boat.
I can get one that satisfy the wife and i or spring another $5 or 6 k
and get something a bit bigger (might be usefull if future grandkids
come along)
Trouble is, I'd also have to upgrade to a more powerful tow vehicke. I
have an appointment tomorrow at 1300 hrs with the local Toyota
dealer.
They'll appraise my 3 year old car and we'll take the 6 cyl RAV4 out
for a test run.
This could get expensive ;-)

You haven't come close to expensive. Try a $50,000 vessel and a tow
vehicle to match and that's nothing in the boating world!

What you really want is a 4wd Tundra V8. * Great vehicle.

That would be crazy big for our use 95 percent of the time.

yeah went through that when looking at buying...but wanted a boat we
could sleep on comfortably overnight or over a weekend...so got a
bigger boat...

That would probably be the way to go. Larger sailboats (older used
models) are a fraction of the cost of a new walk through windshield
boat in the 16 to 18 foot range. The savings could be applied to yacht
club fees. Only trouble is you are limited in sailing area unless you
are prepared for serious coastal cruising.

A few mistakes in your post. Can you spot 'em?

Keep what you have for a while and save up for that new shiny toy.
Don't take baby steps. You won't be happy in the end. ;-)

Blame the errors on my Blackberry Playbook. More awkward to use than
my desktop keyboard.

*Oscar* is offering up "corrections"? Now that's a giggle. The high
point of his entire life was a stint in the navy and that was over for
him decades ago.

It would be mandatory the other 5% of the time. That's the downside to
trailer boating.

Buy a Chev pickup, and be done with it.

Nah, he really wants a 34' trawler, and he'll need a Silverado 2500 with a turbo diesel to haul it
comfortably!

He'll need more than that. Definately NOT enough truck. Try a Dodge
3500 Dually, with a Cummins and a variable power module.
