Boating, Fuel Prices, Speculators, Politics, etc.

The subject line says it all, and here's a well considered analysis
with something for everyone:

Reading between the lines, it is pretty clear. Our prices are high as
hell because the American oil companies are idling refineries and
sending ever increasing quantities of oil overseas.

No point in drill, drill, drill, if the American consumer is prevented
from benefiting from it.

Why shouldn't we have people employed in the oil drilling field? Why
shouldn't we have be selling our oil to those overseas?

Why should the middle east get all of the money for the oil when we can
undercut the price by a couple of points? You do not understand
competition.

If you want something that is job-killing, there it is.

Yes, letting the overseas suppliers profit from the sale of their oil at
the expense of us not selling our oil.

USA is a net consumer of oil. Hate to bust your fallacy on this.

Nothing he has said, yet, made any sense.

A general problem today. Far too many bu11sh1ters say too much. As
George Carlin would say, "...just more bu11sh1t."

Capital depreciation on the iron rot of a vehicle is more than people
will spend in fuel.

Up here a previous Liberal Government bought out the old FINA gas
company and launched a new government owned oil company... Petro
Canada.
We all payed a few cents a liter extra at the pump to fund this
venture. The idea was to provide some real competion to mostly
American run major players.
As soon as a Conservative government got back in, they sold Petro
Canada of to investors... and I don't recall getting one red cent for
my involuntary investment included in every liter of gas I burnt.
