They'll be fine for that. We have a similar pair on the boat that we
use as intercoms. They are cheap enough that you don't have to worry
about them all that much.



How long do you think they will go in the woods? Are they the same
wavelength as the ones we had as kids, like a half mile at best range
without line of sight?

Good question. They operate at much higher frequencies than the old
CB walkie talkies and the technology is better but I have no idea how
they'd do in the woods. Over water they're good for a mile or more in
an area with no interference.

I have a couple FRS radios we take on vacation every year for the last
5 or 6 years. I don't think we have ever used them.


Talked to her last night. She is a big ski buff in Big Bear area... She
noted that mostly it's for those "I'll see you at the bottom" moments
when one person is still on the lift or something. She noted the area of
coverage they are looking to cover is about 250 acres all together but I
don't know the terrain...
