Tobacco contributes greatly to states revenue.

Alcohol contributes a big chunk too.

Asked and answered. Snerk. Gubmint is promoting and
subsadising.industries known to be harmful to your
health. Is
this
the same gubment that is supposed to be promoting the
general
welfare
of it's citizens?

Does tobacco and alcohol figure into your pursuit of
happiness?

Weird question Bert.

Why is it a weird question? The government is interfering
in
your
pursuit of happiness.

Yes, but alcahol and tobacco aren't involved.

Why are you against other people pursuing happiness?

How did you ever come up with that notion?

Read through the message above. We separated from the limey
*******s to
enable our unencumbered pursuit of happiness.

One last time Bert. Alcahol and tobacco are not factors in my

persuit
of happiness. If they are key to your or others persuit of

happiness,
it's not my concern. Have Harry parse it out for you if you are
having trouble understanding. Now leave me alone on the subject,
please.

You always have the option to stop responding to my posts. If you

wish
to stop pursuing the issue the you can stop this whole thing by

leaving
me alone.

It's the Rick & Mitt show, right here on wrecked.boats!

Rick and Mitt. Two contenders for the big prize. I wish them both the
best of luck.

Probably used spotters... Even store owners reporting cases of booze

Why would a store owner want to get his best customers busted?

Upright citizenship. The DC folks are very law-abiding. Besides, the city was losing tax money -
money that could have gone into the pockets of some of the city councilmen.

The liquor license is a very valuable thing.

Nobody in DC was going to threaten a high volume dealer who was
pumping extra tax money in the DC coffers from Maryland and Va
customers.
DC always had a contentious relationship with Md and Va anyway because
the suburban DMVs would not go after people with DC parking tickets.
They didn't even have reciprocity with moving violations when I was
there
I was revoked in DC and Md never knew it.
I thought the difference in taxes was reduced years ago and this was a
less attractive thing to do ... or did Md and Va raise their taxes
again?
I know bringing cigarettes up from North Carolina used to be a popular
thing to do.

I did some price checking for booze between Montgomery County and
Fairfax County a couple of years ago. It was all over the place. Some
things were cheaper and some things weren't. The one thing that was
different was wine costs and wine selection in Fairfax county. Since
everything in Montgomery county, alcohol wise, is bought through the
county your selection is limited. Fairfax has a wider selection of wines
and at much better prices.

I don't smoke any more and I don't buy smokes for my wife either so I
can't talk about the costs of tobacco.
