Ok, a conversation here...

the other day got me looking. When I was young my neighbors had a boat
that I was told was a very limited edition. IIRC it was 17 1/2 feet
long, and green. It had a walk through bow with two half cone (batmobile
type) windscreens in front of the seats. The cockpit was very elaborate,
like a jet airliner. The boat had fins on the back like a Batmobile too,
the bat was deliberately and shamelessly designed after the Batmobile..
but the main event was the dual blown Chrysler 454's that ran the
sucker... We used to go waterskiing behind it at like 1/4 throttle

Anyway, I am going crazy trying to find more info on this boat to see
how close my recollection of it is.. The boat would have been new around
probably 1970 or so... Has anybody here heard of one of these, any info
available, trying to find out who made them, a picture or something to
tell me it wasn't only a dream;)? Thanks, LOL!

I can't say for sure, I think it was a prop drive. I also remember the
boat was capable of about 75 Mph according to the owner... I think the
fastest I was ever pulled was a bit over 40 and that was frekin' nuts...

Hallett made some boats that might fit that description back in the
1970s, but I don't recall any boats in the length you remember with a
pair of 454's. In fact, I have a hard time envisioning how you'd cram
them into a small hull of that length. Could it have been one 454 with
dual blowers?

Nope, definitely two engines... I seem to recall there being only a
dozen or so of these boats made according to the family that owned it...
They were into real estate and they did pretty well for a family with 7
kids...

Probably dual turbos, one on each side. Even a pair of 350s would be
next to impossible in that size, a very tight fit even on a 24 footer.

Speaking of twin-engined 24 footers, my dad was the dealer for this line
for the few years it was in production:

Twin Caddy Crusaders, 600 horsepower, with a written guarantee the boat
would do a minimum of 60 mph. The tailfins were...huge. I don't recall
the displacement of the two V8's, but I do remember that they were side
by side in the hull and they barely fit.

There is a possibility they were not... I remember the kids saying they
were, can't say for sure I remember the dad saying it but I think so I
would have picked up on it if they weren't, I spend enough time with
them and the boat was always a topic of conversation, even at the
lake... But who knows, they could have been bs'ing me. I wouldn't know a
454 from a 350 bck then anyway... But there were two engines, that much
is definite. It was a straight up go fast... just a short one.

Not that I know of, 454's were GM.
