I imagine it is very similar to the 3 liter Mercrusier engines, and if so
the answer is yes, you have to kind partially disassemble the front mount. Really pretty easy. If you are sharp you will purchase 2 belts....slip both through the mount when you install the new one and when the newly installed belt breaks at the most inopportune moment....you have a new belt ready to go in a matter of minutes.....cheap insurance!!! "Joe Blizzard" wrote in message ... Am I correct in assuming that the only way to change the alternator/water pump belt on my 1977 Mercruiser 165 is to dissassemble the front motor mount? I tend to forget about looking into this until I find myself looking at the front of the engine or until someone mentions belts. http://users.adelphia.net/~blizzard3...ges/engine.jpg |
