Hehehe. Gotta love rec.boats for its moronic righties.

Any number of commentators last night were poking fun at Cain's comments
about Cain's Iranian mountain statements.

"Iran has mountains..."

Time magazine had a recap:

47 minutes. We are back with a question from the audience, except there
is no question from the audience. An awkward minute or so later, a
questioner appears: “If Israel attacked Iran to prevent Tehran from
getting nuclear weapons, would you help Israel launch the attack or
support it otherwise?” Cain answers without any answer. “I would first
make sure that they had a credible plan for success, clarity of mission
and clarity of success. Remember, when you talk about attacking Iran, it
is a very mountainous region.” Imagine President Cain on the phone with
the Israeli Prime Minister. “We will attack at dawn,” says the prime
minister. “Have you considered the mountains?” inquires President Cain.

The mountains are going to give the Israeli air force problems, Cain
apparently thinks.

Most mountains in Iran are around 14,000 feet, no obstacle for the
Israeli air force. And the Iranian nuke facilities are in underground
concrete bunkers, so it isn't the mountains that are in the way.

Cain is just ignorant and apparently too intellectually lazy to be a
serious candidate.

You stupid old fool, Suckling Don! The mountains will give them trouble.
The Zagros mountains have many giant cave systems to hide in.

It will present a problem if the facility they are trying to destroy
is in the middle of one of these mountains. Our penetrators are pretty
good but there is still a limit to what they can punch through.

Most if not all of the Iranian nuke facility locations are known, and
they are not in the mountains. Think Peenemünde and Nordhausen, with the
facilities in underground bunkers.

If that is really true, they are going to lose them. The open question
is how long that really sets back the program and what the blowback
will be.

I think it is worthwhile to try to prevent countries ruled by lunatics
from having or developing nuclear weapons. Bombing, sabotage and other
methods that do not involve massive military effort seem reasonable ways
to accomplish that sort of goal.

The problem, of course, is that nukes-ready-to-go are available from the
weaponry stolen from the former Soviet states and, probably, from
Pakistan. Since we don't really patrol our borders or seaports, it seems
reasonable one can be "snuck" in to create havoc. When it goes off, I
hope it isn't going off in DC.

Careful, Bob will be saying Harry is just picking on Cain because he
is black

Who knows he might. But could be his welfare check is more important
and Cain might cancel it. So long as there is a socialist black boob
might keep quite. Ditto harryk ... Who knows....
