SCHEDULE

FRIDAY JULY 30th - KID'S FAMILY FUN RACE AND BARN DANCE

Afternoon: Regular Friday Upper Yough Release

4:00 pm: "Kids "Family Fun" Race

Our first kid's "family fun" race was a big success. This year it runs on its
own special day! Between 3 - 4 pm we will register children (accompanied their
parents or guardians) at the parking lot across the street from Mountain Surf.
$10 entry fee. The race starts shortly after 4:00 pm (once the water reaches
town) and runs from the I- 68 bridge to the Friendsville Town Park. It's one
mile of class I-II rapids with interesting water features the whole way. The
Kids Race Awards ceremony will be at 5:30 pm at the Hoe Down Barn

PADDLERS! Meet your kids when you get to the I-68 bridge after your Upper Yough
run and go down the river with them!

6:00 pm: LVM (Lunch Video Magazine) shows its latest release at the Hoe Down
barn

7:00 -12:00 pm Upper Yough "Hoe Down", Old Fashioned Barn Dance

It's in a real barn with hay bails and horse crap! The Upper Yough Festival
Band "From The Hip" plays a great selection of foot stompin' bluegrass and folk
music.. We'll have a free keg while it lasts. Park and camp on the farm grounds
or crash in the hay in the barn. $5.00 door fee.

Added Attractions:

A mechanical Bull will be running at the Hoe Down Barn all night! $5 for two
rides.

Rope IRoger the Rodeo kayaker Clown

Sometime during the evening IRoger the Rodeo clown will appear and ride the
Mechanical Bull as well as run around it. Pay to rope IRoger with a real laso,
win IR prizes and hog tie him, if you can, for the grand prize. Proceeds go
directly to American Whitewater.

The Hoe Down Barn is 2.5 miles From Friendsville: From Mountain Surf go West
(toward the freeway),Turn right at the stop sign, go 1.5 miles on route 42,
Turn right on Blooming Rose road at top of hill, go .6 miles. Turn left at stop
sign on unmarked road (old Morgantown) go .4 miles. Park only in a well marked
field on the right,

SATURDAY JULY 31st : THE UPPER YOUGH RACE AND FESTIVAL

Featuring an Extra Saturday Whitewater Release All Day!

4:00 pm - The 24th Annual Upper Yough Race

REGISTRATION: Friday Night July 30th at the Hoe Down Barn
Saturday July 31st from 9:00 am - 12:00 noon at the Friendsville Town Park.

The $30.00 entry fee includes timing with prompt printed results, T-shirt,
Prizes, finish line refreshments, and Festival admittance. Registration ENDS
Promptly at NOON!

PLEASE - DON'T SPOIL THE RACE! This extra Saturday release has been scheduled
from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm so that more boaters can enjoy the river. Please
respect our racers and give them an open and clear race course! Pull off the
river around 4:00 pm, watch them compete, then follow them into town. If the
race runs successfully we'll do it again next year!

The race starts at 4:00 PM and runs from above Gap Falls at stretch rock to
Kendall pool. Racers start at 1-minute intervals. Those who want to race with a
friend for safety or fun need to register at the same time. The starting order
will be posted shortly thereafter. Boat classes include Men's, Women's,
Wildwater, Wavehopper, Slalom, K2, Creek boat, Play boat, Canoe, Ducky, Raft.
The printed results will reflect all of these classes. The top 3 men and top 3
women receive prizes. To finish in the top six takes great boating skill, many
runs down the Upper, a longer boat and good physical conditioning. The winners
will be awarded, for the next year, the coveted legacy Cup (Curerently held by
Jess Whittemore and Chara Whittemore)

Driving and boating to the starting line takes around 1 hour. Please give
yourself plenty of time to get to the starting line.

5:00 pm - Upper Yough Festival at Friendsville Town Park - $5.00 entry fee

This is a real small town America festival with a family atmosphere. The
official Upper Yough Festival Band, "From The Hip" will be playing their fast
pace folk and bluegrass music all evening. Visit the whitewater manufacturer's
booths, check out the boat swap, and sample the home-town food venders. The
estival runs rain or shine, but a large pavilion provides good shelter if the
weather is wet.

Team Friendsville sure hopes you can make it! All profits go to American
Whitewater and the Friendsville Volunteer Fire Dept. Ask for your Friday off
now and don't miss it!

The Yough Valley Motel is in Friendsville and has graciously offered a 10%
discount for July 30th and 31st off of their already great rate for Upper Yough
