Voters losing confidence in Bush on economy
Negative ratings on economy highest since he took office By Corbett B. Daly, CBS Marke****ch WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- Americans are steadily losing confidence in President Bush's ability to run the world's largest economy and his disapproval ratings on the task are now at their highest level since he took office, according to a new CBS News/New York Times poll released Thursday. Forty percent of Americans are confident in his ability to make the right decisions about the economy, while 56 percent are uneasy about his approach. That is a significantly harsher assessment of his performance than his grade in April, when 54 percent were confident in his ability and 42 percent were uneasy. The telephone survey, conducted Sunday through Wednesday from a sample of 981 adults, found that 32 percent of respondents said the economy and the labor market are the most important problems facing the country today, far ahead of any other international or domestic problem. -- * * * email sent to will *never* get to me. |
