When compared to any other occupation, union construction workers demonstrate among the highest
heavy alcohol and illicit drug use. Damn, I didn't know that. That explains a lot of the problems with our infrastructure. Maybe we should give union workers more money. |

Are you calling her misinformed, or worse, a liar like her husband. Sadly, substance abuse is far worse among non-unionized construction workers, most of whom work on projects where employees are not subject to random drug tests. It has been known for many years that a substantial percentage of construction workers abuse substances. A lot but not all of this is a result of a need to self-medicate. Construction workers sustain a lot of back, leg, muscular type injuries during their work years, and these take a toll. For some workers, self-medication becomes the only avenue for pain relief. This is not a country where an injured worker gets adequate compensation for work-related injuries and illnesses, or even reasonable access to retraining. The purpose of my wife's research was not to point out that construction workers abuse substances, but to explore the barriers they encounter to seeking proper treatment for their abuse problems. It is one hell of a document, and is being considered for publication in a professional journal. If I submitted this post to any journal it would be "considered" for publication. It would be **** canned and never would be published, but it would be considered. Your wife gets a PhD from a 3rd rate college and you think it is "special". Does Karen Grear know you were so ashamed of her, that you had to make up an imaginary career for her to boast your bruised ego? While you used to pretend she was a Medical Doctor, she was really a social worker. Now that she has a degree from a 3rd rate college, you have to pretend that she is an intellectual powerhouse. If your wife was half as intelligent as you like to pretend, she would have gotten her PhD from Georgetown. Such shame, but I guess it is better than getting your undergrad degree from Univ. of Kansas. What are you going to do now that we all know that your wife is overweight, has 3 chins, is old and really would not be considered beautiful (or even cute) by anyone? |

Do you really think it's appropriate to drag someone's wife or other family member into the so called discussions here? The only thing that any of us know for sure about Harry's wife is that she is married to a loser. That should be burden enough for her. In all seriousness I'd like to see everyone knock it off. It's just not the right thing to do. And yes, I know, I know, I really do, so don't dredge up the past. It's all out there and we all know where to find it. Two wrongs does not make a right however, and some of you do know better. I definitely agree with this post. Family should not be mentioned - by either side. Of course, that means all the incest and family pedophile comments should go also. They're sick. I've been nothing but complimentary to your wife, Herring. So by that comment you feel you are innocent. What about the others that you have degraded by your use of extremely derogatory comments? Oh, by the way, "others do it" is only an excuse kids use, so don't try that one. |

Damn, I didn't know that. That explains a lot of the problems with our infrastructure. Maybe we should give union workers more money. Why do I doubt you'll be mentioning this next time you run into a construction worker... Herring, physically, looks like he could be knocked to the ground by a passing feather. Remember those photos of thin, brittle-looking HIV sufferers in the 1980's? Well, our boy Herring looks like one. Just because you're such a fat, nasty smelly sort doesn't mean that because someone is thin they frail. I'll bet he's in better physical shape than you are. Try following John H around a golf course, on foot, sometime. The man is a machine. Well, I wasn't wearing combat boots then either! I tried walking Forest Green last week. Had to catch a ride for some of the green to tee walks. Old age catching up. Oh, I am 6' 3" tall, and my weight is right at 180lbs. Not sure what charts Harry is looking at. I seem to be right on the mark: http://www.healthchecksystems.com/heightweightchart.htm I was supposed to play today, but this damn rain is definitely slowing down the golfing. I've been having trouble with my drives. At the range a couple days ago, I found that choking up helped a lot. So, I cut an inch and a half off the end of the driver and re gripped it. Will see what happens. We're playing Quantico again Monday. Maybe you are shrinking;-). Harry's down to 5'11" you know. |

Harry has said that He is in charge of his own behavior, so I don't think you have to worry about him blaming his behavior on someone else. |
