Default What material to use

The splash strakes on my Tolman was made from UHMW plastic but
although it may be a good matetrial for a boat in AK, it absorbs too
much UV in FL and has cracked and split.
So, what material should I replace it with? These strakes are about
3/4" wide X 1/2" thick. I am thinking maybe 1/4" thick pine with
another 1/4" ply on top both saturated with epoxy. That way I can
replace the ply when it wears too much.
