Catskill Mountains - Camping / Canoeing
Hi,
I just moved to northern Columbia county. I am looking for suggestions/recommendations on where to go for some paddling and camping (tent). In the past we have gone to the adirondacks, paddled out to setup our camp, and then paddled whereever it was we were staying. Thanks, Neysa |

There aren't a lot of options in the Catskills for canoe camping. The
navigable rivers largely pass through the built up areas. neysa wrote: Hi, I just moved to northern Columbia county. They have established a trail on the Hudson River and have a guidebook that gives descriptions and camping locations on the River. I've lived in Ulster County all my life and have hiked and camped all over the Catskills. Most of the streams, like the Esopus, are only navigable by canoes in the spring (white water). The Delaware River also offers canoe/camping possibilities. There's nothing in the Catskills that compare to the canoe trails in the Adirondacks (like the one that goes from Old Forge to Tupper Lake or the Saranac's). rjc |
