Grow a pair and take your boat into the ocean. You might even see a
similar event. Most of us who have been offshore have seen numerous whales.

And so, "Jay" offers up a perfect example of why rec.boats is dying.
Even an on-topic post with an interesting video (recreational boaters
experiencing a large whale swimming right under their boat) is trashed
by one of rec.boats' right-wing haters.

Yup.... this newsgroup is infested with instigators, agitators,
irritators and enablers.
The only cure... a gift subscription to a new boating newsgroup.
Can you recommend one? ;-)

Why don't you go there and stay then?

That's cool but what I find interesting is when a humpback surfaces so
close to our boat that you can smell it's "breath". You would think
that since they only eat fresh seafood it wouldn't smell like the
dumpster behind a red lobster restaurant but it does.

Well, I've seen smaller whales in the Atlantic while out in my boat, and
I did see some humpbacks south of San Diego while on a whale watching
cruise, but I've never had a large whale swim under my boat, as it did
in that video. What a thrill.

Damn, that's funny! What's Karen's email address again? She will love
it! Forget it, I'll call her.
