Great living quarters, excellent food,a nd media attention. Ralph the rock-stah There's a seafood restaurant in Mayport/Jacksonville...it's pretty much a large shack hanging out over the water...called Singleton's Seafood Shack. Great food. Anyway, it is a gathering place for literally dozens and dozen of pelicans, because the chefs take the portions of fresh fish they aren't cooking, and toss it out to the pelicans, who perform all sorts of tricks to get their dinners. Not a scrap goes to waste. Very healthy pelicans. I think they have to reserve a perch spot months in advance. |
