Default Now maybe I can get back to the boat

It started with an innocent trip to Home Depot where my daughter and I found
a nice 36" wide bathroom vanity for sale. The kind that doesn't have legs
but rather a full base. Built in instead of furniture style.
Wife and daughter go back to pick it up the next day and it's been sold so
they pick out a 30" wide on legs - no problem, I'll rip out the old one,
paint the wall behind it (room was painted about 2 months ago) to match the
rest of the room and install the new one. Floor is terrazzo so no problem
with an incomplete tile job. Should take the afternoon with painting.
I rip out the old vanity and discover the wall wasn't finished back in '67
when the house was built! %&*(%$! That must have saved the builder all of 3
bucks in 1967 dollars.
So I built out the recessed areas and installed bead board wainscoting which
looks very nice with the new vanity. A job that was supposed to take a few
hours ends up a few days instead. Seems to be the rule rather than the
exception.
If HD would have had the one I picked out the job probably still wouldn't
have gotten done in an afternoon, some other "surprise" would have caught
me.
Aw well, it's done and now I can get back to sanding and fairing my boat,
getting ready for a new paint job.
But not today, think I'll go put around on the pontoon. If it's windy I can
stay in the canals and putter down to Samson's Island for a walk. It's the
dogs favorite thing to do. Probably all the animal smells, lots of critters
and most of them aren't big enough to eat him (Yorky).
