That's the carrier my youngest son John served on as part of VAW-126 during his Navy service. Two deployments to support air ops in Iraq and Afghanistan . "In October 2004, VAW-126 deployed aboard USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75) to the Arabian Gulf for a second deployment in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. During this highly intensive combat cruise, the SEAHAWKS surpassed all previous records by flying 419 combat missions into Iraq, accumulating more than 2000 flight hours in support of Operation IRAQI FEEDOM. In December 2004, the squadron sent two aircraft from the Arabian Gulf to Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM for the inauguration of the first democratically elected president. This was the first time the SEAHAWKS supported two separate campaigns simultaneously." http://www.public.navy.mil/airfor/va...s/history.html Eisboch |

The old Coral Sea was a favourite visitor... as were the Essex, Wasp(or Hornet ??) & Intrepid... back when we were growing up. |

Security reasons, I guess. In the good ole days we could crawl all over the ships... especially if we found a good natured Yankee sailor who'd show us around. All we had to do was convince them we had an older sister. |

Yup. Even the Navy puts a period after the "S" which is not technically correct. Eisboch |
