That was the joke about the Iraqi Army after they left Kuwait (AK 47, only
been dropped once).
The Kuwaiti Army's officers were all Kuwaiti and the troops an assortment of
third world TCNs. Thanks to plenty of warning of the impending Iraqi
invasion, the Kuwaiti officers had time to casually jet off on extended
vacations while the TCN troops (and some Kuwaiti families) fended for
themselves while a coalition of infidels kicked the Iraqis asses back over
the border.
So, the Kuwaitis never dropped their American made weapons. They had someone
else do it for them.

That was also the reasoning behind Lee Harvey Oswald choosing the WW2
vintage Italian Carcano rifle.The Carcano was known for their high
quality, abundance and showing little wear.
