Last time I was in Branford, there was only one place anywhere nearby
that served whole belly clams, if he isn't cooking them at home...

Last time I was in Branford, there was only one place anywhere nearby
that served whole belly clams, if he isn't cooking them at home...



Whole belly clams, in case anyone is interested, are pretty much the
whole clam, gently fried, similar to how you might fry a whole oyster.
They are not those damned chewy clam strips. Typically, they are made
from the same variety of clams as the "steamers" so prevalent in New
England.

I can't say I've ever eaten 'whole belly' clams. I'd done a lot of
oysters on the half-shell though.
