Thanks much! Starbrite hull cleaner or dawn dish liquid. When you get the stains off, put a couple of coats of boat wax on the area that "attracts" the stains. the marina clued me in to 'FSR"...fiberglass stain remover...not sure if it'll work but I'll let yo uknow I've used FSR. If memory serves, it is mostly oxalic acid. Wear gloves and eye protection. It stings like the devil if it gets into small cuts. -- I'm not a warlock…I'm…you! teak cleaners have the same ingredient ans so does bar keepers friend. -- I'm the real Harry, and I post from a PC or a MAC, as virtually everyone knows. If a post is attributed to me, and it isn't from a PC or a MAC, it's from an ID spoofer who hasn't the balls to post with his current ID. The magnificent Boatless Harry also Wood Bleach. |

Then ONLY way I could get the stuff off was using a professional grade compound. Fortunately, they build and repair boats where I dry store and they just gave me a small quantity. I think it only comes in the gallon size and that is pretty pricey. It is a VERY aggressive compound, so be careful. I used a real power buffer to accomplish the job, so if you try to use a higher speed wheel, be VERY careful of burning the gelcoat. Actually, this stuff cuts fast enough to use by hand. http://www.boatersworld.com/product/...ource =google Not sure what you have, but I had to touch up the bottom paint, too. i'll give the fiberglass stain remover a chance...even if it lightens it a bit it should be OK thank smuch You will never see it. |

Taht's always the problem I'[ve had with my v huls. the tank cap is in front of the drivers windshield, and so is the vent. fueling them is a pain because the pump[ is pumping then if not careful to shut the pump down before the filler neck is full, the pump handle makes a smard *click!* as the gasolinee comes puking back out of the top. OK so now it's full, but every jossle and gas comes dribbling out of the tank vent. i got to the point where I'd wash it as fast as I could with windshield washer and a wet cloth, but eventually I gave up trying to get rid of the stain every time I slopped gas on the hull. . But I'll detail them when I moth ball them for the winter. *Bon-ami doesnt't do bad but really dulls the finish, so It'll get a good scrubbing then a wax job, and I doubt it will look good -as- new, but it'll be better'n what it was. Taht's always the problem I'[ve had with my v huls. the tank cap is in front of the drivers windshield, Funny, mine isn't, and its a severe V Hull. Better design I guess. |
