There may not be as many attacks, but a lot more serious damage is done with a large cutting implement. This makes some sense, but I'd like to see some statistics. The problem is the severity of gun attacks.. not too many mass killings with knives. With a knife, it's up close and personal. With a gun, almost any distance is possible. ...and there's always the chance you can outrun a whacko with a knife...not so much for a bullet. That is the reason why I wish Harry didn't own guns. It was lost on JPS, but my little point was that if we take guns away, people will adapt whatever is handy. We recently had a real Doctor, not one of the pretend NG kind, in our town kill his wife by bashing her head in with a hammer. Million dollar house, good practice and wife confronted him about dithering the help. He snapped. Would he have used a gun if he had one? maybe, but he didn't need to, he used a weapon that was handy. In all the arguments, I've yet to hear any of the anti-gun people address how they are going to take away criminals guns. One mentioned that the guns would eventually become useless? Anyone that has ever wiped oil on a piece of metal knows how stupid that argument is. Remember when the anti-gun rocket scientists came up with the idea that you could only defend yourself with a weapon similar to your attackers or less damaging? I guess to make it fair for the house breaker, rapist, murderer, car jacker, psychopath, mugger, scumbag attacker. The people that dream this crap up should try and leave fairy tale land once in a while. They should go hug a gang banger and see how that works out. I'd buy tickets to see that. |
