Just got back from 'The Source' where I bought a can of the 'TV Tuner
contact cleaner & lubricant.
I had tried at my favourite electrical supply store this afternoon but they
didn't carry it.
I'll advise when I have results to post.

I've taken many mechanical engineering courses and as you know, I know
everything. Just ask me. For some reason my little buddy doesn't ask me
about these things.

Evidently CRC doesn't sell this in CA so he went shopping for TV solvents...

I went to the closest place where I thought cleaning solvent was available.
The boat dealers are at least a 10 km drive from my place.

5 miles? A Rav4 should be able to handle that, as long as you have been
faithful about tending to all the recalls.

So if the correct product isn't available you find something similar?
Why not save the gas and shoot some WD40 in there?

Little buddy, don't get roused, it's just a car. On a car frame. Nothing
to be ashamed of. Where does Toyota say it's a truck, anyway? Here's
some other information

http://www.wheels.ca/article/20049

Which says in part:

Okay, it's not a very manly driving device," starts British Car magazine
in a thumbnail review of the RAV4, "but (it offers) lovely engines,
reactive chassis and the usual Toyota strengths of build and warranty."

Toyota knows that to make an appealing cute-ute, it's best to start with
a car, not a truck.

So the RAV4 was built on the Japanese-market Camry platform ? precisely
why it's such a nice-driving sport utility

See, Don, a Camry is a car, not a truck, little buddy.

It goes on:

The RAV4 deviated from truck-based SUVs by employing lightweight unibody
construction, a fully independent suspension (struts up front, trailing
arms in back) and rack-and-pinion steering.

Aren't Camrys and Celicas cars?

Thanks to its Camry and Celica donor parts, the RAV4 was a delight to
drive and far more car-like than its tall stance and trucky appearance
might suggest

I'm sorry to do this to my special little buddy, but you need to know.

Our provincial registry of vehicles has it listed as a truck on my ownership

Toyota's only "trouble" is the Obama Administration. They were number 17
on a list of recalls, with GM at number 4 when they started selling too
many cars for Obama and his Union Owned and operated GM so Obama got the
Minority Media to slam them for a while. It was an obvious Government

Just got back from 'The Source' where I bought a can of the
'TV
Tuner
contact cleaner& lubricant.
I had tried at my favourite electrical supply store this
afternoon but
they
didn't carry it.
I'll advise when I have results to post.

Oh, man I can't wait, thanks little buddy.

Don't you just love how he adds suspense and drama to a ho-hum

Evidently CRC doesn't sell this in CA so he went shopping for TV
solvents...

http://www.crcindustries.com/marine/...x?PN=06102&S=N

I went to the closest place where I thought cleaning solvent was
available. The boat dealers are at least a 10 km drive from my
place.

5 miles? A Rav4 should be able to handle that, as long as you have
been
faithful about tending to all the recalls.

Now *that* is funny!

Don't make fun of my little buddy's RAV4. He says its a truck even
though it doesn't have a frame.

Looney, Looney... Toyota says it's a 'truck'.
You got a problem?? Take it up with them.

Toyota has enough troubles to deal with right now. Do you think they are
going to answer questions as to why they misrepresent the Rav4 as a
truck?

Toyota's only "trouble" is the Obama Administration. They were number 17
on a list of recalls, with GM at number 4 when they started selling too
many cars for Obama and his Union Owned and operated GM so Obama got the
Minority Media to slam them for a while. It was an obvious Government
interaction taking the side of one corporation over another. America
shouldn't put up with it, here's to hope in 2012!

Good enough for me.

Why are you calling me "looney" little buddy? So, do you believe every
bit of advertising you hear? It's not a truck, sorry, special buddy. A
truck has a frame. Here's a comment from a RAV4 owner's site:

"To the poster a few responses back, the Rav-4 is definitely not a
truck. It is a car based SUV that has nothing in common with a truck"

Ok... you post one owners comment.
Toyota says different. Take it up with them.

Here's Toyota's view...

No RAV4 there. They place it in the SUV/Van category.

vehicles.
That form called it a truck....and now my owners permit calls it a truck.
When I bought the RAV4, every second word out the salesman's mouth was
"truck".

Little buddy, do you really believe everything the salesman tells you?
And please, to put this to an end, show everyone where Toyota claims the
RAV4 is a truck. Show us your "owners permit" that calls it a truck.
That will shut the naysayers up!

"the naysayers"???
The naysayers can kiss my pink................................. never mind.
We're trying to turn this newsgroup back into a family friendly place.
If you're that interested in the RAV4, go see a local dealer.
I can recommend a good salesman if you want a 'Made in Canada' model.

Riiiiggghhhttt........

I wonder if loogy's unemployment insurance has run out yet...

Get that starter problem fixed yet? We anxiously await
the
outcome.

Just got back from 'The Source' where I bought a can of
the
'TV Tuner
contact cleaner& lubricant.
I had tried at my favourite electrical supply store this
afternoon but
they
didn't carry it.
I'll advise when I have results to post.

Oh, man I can't wait, thanks little buddy.

Don't you just love how he adds suspense and drama to a
ho-hum repair
job.

Evidently CRC doesn't sell this in CA so he went shopping for
TV
solvents...

http://www.crcindustries.com/marine/...x?PN=06102&S=N

I went to the closest place where I thought cleaning solvent
was
available. The boat dealers are at least a 10 km drive from my
place.

5 miles? A Rav4 should be able to handle that, as long as you
have been
faithful about tending to all the recalls.

Now *that* is funny!

Don't make fun of my little buddy's RAV4. He says its a truck
even
though it doesn't have a frame.

Looney, Looney... Toyota says it's a 'truck'.
You got a problem?? Take it up with them.
Toyota has enough troubles to deal with right now. Do you think
they
are
going to answer questions as to why they misrepresent the Rav4 as a
truck?

They built it...they call it a truck.
Our provincial registry of vehicles has it listed as a truck on my
ownership permit.
Good enough for me.
So you lied. Harry will be proud. Toyota says it's not a truck but
Canada says it is. My bet is they charge more to register trucks and
lump
anything they can into that category.

D'oh!
Up here they give you a form to take to the provincial registry of
vehicles.
That form called it a truck....and now my owners permit calls it a
truck.
When I bought the RAV4, every second word out the salesman's mouth was
"truck".

Was he tossed from his 'technician' job at the consulting engineer firm?
Maybe he was wasting too much time misusing his computer instead of doing
what he was overpaid to do.
