On a car frame. Nothing to be ashamed of. Where does Toyota say it's a truck, anyway? Here's some other information http://www.wheels.ca/article/20049 Which says in part: Okay, it's not a very manly driving device," starts British Car magazine in a thumbnail review of the RAV4, "but (it offers) lovely engines, reactive chassis and the usual Toyota strengths of build and warranty." Toyota knows that to make an appealing cute-ute, it's best to start with a car, not a truck. So the RAV4 was built on the Japanese-market Camry platform ? precisely why it's such a nice-driving sport utility See, Don, a Camry is a car, not a truck, little buddy. It goes on: The RAV4 deviated from truck-based SUVs by employing lightweight unibody construction, a fully independent suspension (struts up front, trailing arms in back) and rack-and-pinion steering. Aren't Camrys and Celicas cars? Thanks to its Camry and Celica donor parts, the RAV4 was a delight to drive and far more car-like than its tall stance and trucky appearance might suggest I'm sorry to do this to my special little buddy, but you need to know. |

Don't make fun of my little buddy's RAV4. He says its a truck even though it doesn't have a frame. Looney, Looney... Toyota says it's a 'truck'. You got a problem?? Take it up with them. Toyota has enough troubles to deal with right now. Do you think they are going to answer questions as to why they misrepresent the Rav4 as a truck? They built it...they call it a truck. Our provincial registry of vehicles has it listed as a truck on my ownership permit. Good enough for me. So you lied. Harry will be proud. Toyota says it's not a truck but Canada says it is. My bet is they charge more to register trucks and lump anything they can into that category. |
