Yes. the British Prime Minister did thank the crew for representing Britain at the fleet Review 100th Anniversary of the Canadian Navy this weekend. I understand this Saturday is some kind of armed forces day over there.http://halifaxifr.ca/en/home/tabid/61/default.aspx Don, I noticed the link said: Latest News Ship tours schedule announced "During the IFR several foreign and Canadian ships will be open for tours including the HMS ARK ROYAL and USS WASP. Visit the ship tours schedule for more info...." You going to go take a look around? Normally I avoid crowds...but this might be worthwhile. If the weather is good (and the reports are favourable) I wouldn't mind doing my own little review of the fleet in the Princecraft Yukon. To add to interesting events this & next week..... the local 'Native Americans' are holding the biggest Pow Wow ever held in Atlantic Canada. They have seven giant wigwams among a large number of tents set up on the Commons in the center of the city. This is all to celebrate the 400th anniversary of their Great Chief's conversion to Catholicism in 1610. The Queen will attend the festivities next week while in Halifax. http://thechronicleherald.ca/Front/1188938.html |

Americans did that right, dump royalty and the parliamentry ruse. -- The bigger government gets, the more it tends to rule out common sense. |

BTW.. it isn't all play....... the fleets conducted naval exercises before coming here to help us celebrate. We also get to check out a couple of supply ships that we may be interested in. USS Fort George is one example and an interesting ship from Denmark. Ours are approaching 50 years old. http://thechronicleherald.ca/Metro/1188958.html |

Yeah, about 20 years ago, an Italian firm called Magnetti Mirelli bought a couple of Lucas assembly plants in England. That was like two drunks tying themselves together to see if they could stagger straight. Now some of Lucas has been bought out by the premium company, Nippon Denso. That's like Rockwell Int'l buing out Briggs & Stratton. A lot of 'Denso' products are still the same crappy Lucas design. I'm still trying to figure that one out. |

A few years ago, there were some late model F series U.S. fighter jets equipped for the Navy that were grounded due to faulty guidance systems built by Lucas Aeronautics. The Prince of Darkness struck again! |
