The driveshaft [yes driveshaft, complete with a U-joint] bolted directly to the back of the crankshaft. Casady OK, I can understand that part, but I don't see how you could uses a standard buick starter if the frywheel was on the front of the engine because a buick (pad mount since 1963) has bolted to the engine block at the back of the engine. Unless I'm really missing something here. The engine was a 109 HP Graymarine flathead six. It has been fifty years and I could be wrong about the Buick part. Mayby someone rebuilt the one we had, it is hard to remember that far back. Not that I can say for sure, but as I remember, Graymarine engines were mostly marinized (marinised?) Continental engines - I think. There were a few Chrysler flathead sixes in there as well for a while.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - I would say you're right. Like the ones used in the 50's plymouths all the way to Hobart welders and Oliver combines. Pretty tough old enines. |
