He never said he was going to end either war on the first day as President. That's completely loony. He said he would start the withdrawal from Iraq on Jan 20. It is 16 months later and the total commitment in the two wars is higher than it was in 1q09. Which he did. The number in Iraq is much lower. He never said he would end the Afg. war in 18 months. In fact, he said he would escalate and fix the situation. He moved them to Afghanistan, Is anything "fixed"? Well, where was he supposed to get them? You claimed that he wasn't following through on his promise to end our involvement in Iraq. He's doing that. He and the generals agree that more troops are needed in Afg. He's both listening to the generals and keeping in mind the bigger picture of our regional involvement. Now if we could just get the Palestinians and Israelis to stop killing each other. |

Well, now Afg. has potentially a $1T+ worth of natural resources.... Do you propose we try to steal them? ;-) We would do a lot better sending mining engineers in there than combat engineers. Actually, I think it's a bunch of bs that they have those resources. I think it's just a lame attempt to get us thinking we should stay. I imagine they may have some lithium but that is a long way from actually being able to get it into production. It could, perhaps, give them a revenue stream that doesn't involve poppies but I doubt that will drag them up to the 18th century, much less the 21st century Perhaps we should just blanket the whole area with lithium. It might calm down some of them! |

Snotty Scotty ought to beg his buddy Loogy to come back under his own handle. That way, the title of "dumbest poster in rec.boats" could be shared. Make that...demonstrate. You've been flubbing your lines a lot lately. What's going on? I'm not a big fan of my "reading" glasses. Sure. That's it. |

Harry, you had a pretty good job working for a prestigious company. You got to see your name in print once in a while. And the pay was great, I'm sure. Why did you get fired and why haven't you been able to secure employment since then? Doesn't that make you the dumbest blowhard in rec.boats? I've been self-employed continuously since 1990. I have five accounts on long-term contracts right now, and have had four to six such contracts for the past 10 years. Snotty Scotty couldn't as an adult handle the sorts of summer jobs I had as a post-high school/college student. Are you paying taxes for this self employment? |

Actually, I have several. I consider Greg a friend (not sure if it's mutual), jps and Harry seem pretty reasonable. There are a few others. I think you should consider leaving, since you're one of the people who needs to revisit their attitude. |
