Back when the ungrateful rabble bit the hand that fed them (American Revolution) there were quite a number here who may have gone with the 13 colonies. The ties were close in those days. The British had a real strong garrison town/naval port in Halifax that carried the day. The great American's bit the hand that TAXED them, idiot.
