The only way to go:

http://www.weber.com/grills/?glid=6&mid=34

You could fashion a tie-down so you could use it on the cooler you're going to
buy for your anchor locker.

I've got one of these I keep in our travel trailer. Great grill. It's possible
to buy the adaptor to fit the large propane tanks.

West Marine has 'em. *I've had one of these for years, except mine's
charcoal.http://tinyurl.com/ykelrbx

Or you can get a portable table top model at Walmart for $25-$35 and
just plan to throw it away every year.

Rick

I have a phobea of using charcoal on a boat, even a pontoon. Ambers
etc, fire up timeetc, but I may end up going that route.

Rick, I'd seen these with the pedestal mount which is similar to the
link Harry posted.

http://www.rivermarinesupply.com/xca...2//t_12339.jpg

but it really doesn't ahve to be that elaborate. After all we're going
where fish poop, and not a gala outing at the yacht club.

But this is too cheap though....

http://lemaysgrill.com/wp-content/up...ble-gas-grill-...

Besides, I wanted something that could be at least semi permanantly
mounted in case you get hit in the side by a wake and don't want a
grill (especially charcoal) sliding off onto the deck. Greasy burgers
are one thing, hot coals are another.

I did have a *small, hooded aluminum gas grill several years ago on
our back porch and it was pedestal mounted and on rollers, which could
have been easily modified, but I tossed it long ago because I got
tired of buying burner inserts every year.

You'll probably like this one. It's plenty hot, stingy on propane, won't
rust away on you. Can be clamped to a table. You would rather have a
pedastal table than a single purpose BBQ stand wouldn't you?http://www.lowes.com/ProductDisplay?...86002&lang...- Hide quoted text -

Well, I might have to concede to the idea of something like that...

You mean, like some of the ones on this page:

Thanks for the link, Harry, that's really not quite what I was looking
for though. The ones I've seen had a basic pipe screwed into a plate
like what you would mount a pedistal seat into then the gas grill on
top.

Tim, just get you a small tabletop type, like this:

No, it's not! But then again, maybe it is to your homemade Heathkit
H-8 computer!!!! It's just lowe's, you can go there and search for
portable gas grills. Now I'm missing Heathkit stuff!!!! Built a
Heathkit shortwave radio, and my first guitar amp was a Heathkit.

I had one of those $30 portable gas grilles on my boat for a few years
when we were picnicking out at the beach. I had 2 pieces of 1/2" EMT
(thin wall conduit) with 90s bent into it screwed into the bottom to
hold the thing up and it dropped into PVC pipes fastened outboard of
the rail so the cooker was over the water.
That way grease and flaming stuff was not landing on the rug.

I know this is store bought, but something like this?

http://www.opentip.com/Sporting-Good...ne-Grill-Rail-...

Yup, that is the basic idea, I just did it with stuff I had in the
garage, pretty much as a spur of the moment idea.

Looks like a winner to me. I think I'll go for it.

Thanks!

The idea occurred to me as I followed this thread that this would be
excellent for the patio at my folks second level apartment. They have
no yard as of to say, and little space for an actual grill. This has
given me ideas for a banister mount. My father prefers to use gas as
well, so I believe this will serve nicely.

Cheers.

Magma makes the top end boat grills. But they are top end prices. Just
build a couple brackets like Greg and save a couple hundred.

Bad idea. It's one thing to hang a grill over water, but if there's a
chance of anybody being under it, forget it.
Even standard tripod Webers are dangerous when there's toddlers around.

Jim - Once barely caught a toddler who was about to pull a hot Weber
full of glowing coals onto himself. Remember - stuff happens.
