I guess putter boating is better than none. It might be a fisherman's delight, though. It's a small lake...why would you need to go fast? Doubt you'll see too many 30+ foot Gradys...with trip 250s... Well true, Harry. But I really doubt if there will be many Parkers there either. Or in my case Chris Crafts or Marqui cuddies. *Well, maybe the 18' Chris woudl work all right, but I wonder if they'll have conservation oficers there with speed guns to inforce the 25 mph limit? I am not sure how a boater is supposed to know how fast they are going. Speedometers are not required on boats and the ones that they have are notoriously inaccurate. I doubt a lake boater has any real need for a GPS. How lost can you get? I brought the same thing up here when they made most of the bays 25MPH around here and got no answers. Is that 25MPH through the water or across the bottom? A 6 kt current could certainly change that answer. I bet you need to be doing closer to 35-40 to get a ticket that will stick if you go to court. I know about the speedo's on boats. My Chris Craft barely reads if any at all. I've blown the line out and it still doesn't matter. And the Marquis has one of those whirly- wheel things on some kind of a sensor, but it's dead and probably hasn't worked for years. I thought of getting a cheap Garmin, but you're right. I lake boat and it's really not necessary. Besides, tha's something I'd probaby baptize like I've done with a couple of cell phones. |
