We recently went to Stafford, about a twenty-five minute trip. She threw up three times. I've tried several things to get her more comfortable in the car. I'm now feeding her there, and she's finally gotten to where she'll climb into the back seat to eat her food. Before, I'd have to pick her up and put her in the car. When we go for a walk, I put her in the car, drive a couple blocks, park the car, and then walk. Coming home we do the reverse. I've several times taken her out and put her in the car while I climb in and read. The vet has given us some Xanax, but that must be given a half hour before a trip. Plus, I'd rather not have to medicate her. Any ideas out there? Where I launch the boat is more than twenty minutes away, and I don't want to have to clean up her puke when I get there. -- John H All decisions are the result of binary thinking, which is why conservatives can see in black and white. Sounds to me that you might have to get used to it, John. Then consider boating. I haven't known of any retriever that didn't love to jump into water. Soooo. You'd probably have to leash it into the boat. Then clean up dog puke there too! That doesn't sound like fun. -- John H All decisions are the result of binary thinking, which is why conservatives can see in black and white. |
