Boat Cover Update

My wife ordered a new boat cover for me. About two weeks ago I asked
her if she'd heard anything about it. She'd recieved a couple emails,
but hadn't been following the progress too closely. It was supposed to
have been delivered on 6 Jan. She called the company who asked her to
call UPS, which she did. UPS said they'd investigate and get back to
her in a week to ten days. About a week went by, and yesterday I got a
call from the cover manufacturer. UPS had credited the manufacturer,
who was in the process of making me a new cover.

UPS continues to be high in my esteem.

UPS is a pretty good company, even if your cousin works for them. I find
the US Postal Service significantly less expensive and no slower for
delivery of the "care packages" of food snacks I send to my
college-attending nephews in Illinois and Florida. Some of the extra
expense of UPS is due to the fact that around here, the parcels are
handled by small private companies that add about 20-25% to the cost of
UPS shipping rates.

Having worked in the business I can tell you UPS is known for having

Indy 500 tickets for me back in 84 and took them to the UPS office to
send them. They packaged them in the office and long story short, they

I don't think I'd ever let them pack and ship anything valuable. I'd
pack it at home and not mention the contents.

If I'm mailing something, I use the post office. Hell, it's right

Well, the tickets were packaged there by a friend who got it for me a
week or so before the race. Remember, I worked for the company as a sub
contractor, so everybody knew we were getting tickets for the race, who
was getting them, and when they were being shipped. The thing that got
me really was the attitude the management had about such things. They
knew good well what happened, who did it, and just wrote out the check
to cover the cost and brushed it under the rug like every other time..

Occasionally they'll put my stuff on the wrong truck, and instead of

*Most* of the extra expense for UPS packages is because they are a

competitive, and your package stands a much higher chance of making
there in one piece with FedX.

Sorry, jackoff, but if I drop my packages at the UPS terminal, instead
of one of the independent retail stores, the prices fall significantly.
Nice try.

Then it never fails to fail.

Don't get me wrong, I still use them. They know what's going on, so just
insure your stuff for a bit extra;)

OK, OK, but they've done all right by me. So far.

Well, they usually do, John. And I've actually recieved good service

*Most* of the extra expense for UPS packages is because they are a
heavily unionized company. *Equivalent service with FedX is cost
competitive, and your package stands a much higher chance of making
there in one piece with FedX.

Sorry, jackoff, but if I drop my packages at the UPS terminal, instead
of one of the independent retail stores, the prices fall significantly.
Nice try.

Oh...I have found FEDEX much less reliable than either UPS or the USPS.

Sorry, but the rest of the world has a different experience with
shipping.

FedX is the best if it is something you care about and you want it to
actually get there. USPS and UPS is about tied in their ability to
deliver, and is below FedX.

Your dementia is kicking in again.

Fedex Ground Bunch Of Liars
12/14/2008 Clearlake CA

On Dec 13-2008 I had scheduled Fedex Ground (signature required)
delivery. I am following tracking number on their web site. At 6:05AM
package on Fedex vehicle ready for delivery.

I took day of my work to wait for them. And I am self-employed in
television service business. No delivery at 5PM still showing on vehicle
for delivery. I made phone call to Fedex. I have been told to wait till
8PM and I will definitely get my package. At 6:48PM driver write
delivery exception due to weather conditions. What a lie. We have this
day beautiful sunny skies. In conclusion I waste all productive day to
wait for delivery. I think we need some regulation for that, just like
power company or service professionals have.

Fedex is a worst shipping company. I feel sorry for DHL been out of
business. I never had any problems with UPS or DHL.

FedEx Should Be Banned From Shipping Surgical Supplies
11/11/2008 MA

Often times my company needs to deliver surgical supplies overnight in
order to arrive in time for a traumatic surgery. FedEx is so unreliable
that we often cannot take the chance to ship with them. On numerous
occasions our packages were shipped late and our company has suffered
the fall-out (not to mention the patient). UPS has been reliable almost
100% of the time.

If you need on-time delivery do not rely on FedEx. Though they may offer
slightly lower rates, their reliability is severely questionable.

Burned again.

Delivery
2/17/2008 Jacksonville FL

A package sent to me via FEDEX was delivered to the wrong address. The
correct address was on the package but the driver delivered it to a
different address 20 miles away and even had a person sign for the
package ;. Their name was not even close to mine!

Three days later and five phone calls to FedEx I still have not received
my package. I don't know IF I will ever receive it.

I suggest you use UPS .... FedEx has terrible customer service and
apparently their drivers can't read!

Very Surprised and Disappointed
2/12/2008 NY NY

I plan to ship over 35 boxes FedEx Ground. So far 8 reps have told me
FedEx will NOT pick up from my residence, that I have to drop off the
packages, and 6 reps have told me FedEx WILL pick up, all I need to do
is "call FedEx" (and pay $2.30 per box according to one rep). I was
given an address to drop off the packages, 621 West 48th Street in NYC
at 11th Avenue. I went to that location to check out the drop-off
situation so I could advise my movers and there is no FedEx office
there. An area businessman told me the office was around the corner on
49th Street, and yes there is one there. There I was told me they didn't
have a phone number, and before I could drop anything off I would have
to call the main number ahead of time to let the office know the
packages were arriving at the 49th Street location. They also told me a
barcode had to be on all of the boxes when I dropped them off, even
though it is a FedEx drop point and some might go differently than FedEx
Ground. Wondering what might be my next surprise, I called the main
number to ask about the requirement to call them and was told by the rep
who answered that they didn't notify offices ahead of time about
shipments, and just to drop them off. I didn't dare ask about the
requirement to have the barcode or FedEx label already on the packages -
just do it as requested and let them change it if necessary seems the
safest route.

On this site I read about a Sony laptop being stolen and the advice to
get a receipt for packages dropped off. Good idea. But I'd like to add
that at least one rep has told me that unless you insure a package FedEX
won't pay over $100 reimbursement, whether you have proof or not that it
didn't arrive.

Why don't I switch now to UPS and just redo all the labels? Because I'm
not that sure UPS is any better.

Fedex stole my Sony laptop
12/27/2007 Canoga Park CA

I dropped several packages at Fedex and since they were many packages
and I had my little girl with me, I made the mistake of not getting a
receipt. All the packages arrived except the Sony laptop which was in
it's original box that shows exactly what is in it. Fedex claims they
never got it. I guess an employee just stole it and got himself a very
nice Christmas present.
I made the label at home and dropped the package like I hav done
hundereds of time before, but this time I did not get a receipt. My
tracking number is 754592410001363.
The funny thing is that I switched from UPS to Fedex a few months ago.
UPS stores would refuse to give a receipt and I was always afraid that
my package gets lost in store or employee steals it; so I switched to Fedex.
Now they telling me tough luck. Customer service says if we don't have a
record of it then you didn't drop it off. How can I prove to them that I
dropped the package. Can a 7 year old kid testify for me?
So, what do I do? Can I go to small claims court? Has anyone else had
this problem and how was it resolved.

Unreliable delivery service with deceitful customer service personels
12/22/2007 Pasadena CA

I ordered an overnight delivery of 2 live lobsters from Boston to
California for a very important person, and was promised the package
would be delivered by 3:00 pm on 12/21/07; however, the package was
never delivered. When I called FedEx the first time tonight I was told
by a gentleman with a Spanish accent that there was a delay due to a
snow storm in South Boston. I told him I have been tracking the weather
channel and the weather is perfectly clear in Boston. However, according
the tracking information online, it clearly showed the package had
arrived at the sorting facility in California, which is about 30 miles
away from the destination, since 7:28 am 12/21/07. The gentleman now
told me that the delay was due to a SNOW STORM IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA,
unknowing that I am currently in California, and have been living in the
state for the last 30 years (Hahaha)!!! That was a good one;
unfortunately, I believe FedEx needs to retrain its employees on how to
B.S. with some common senses or they should consider hiring people with
at least a high school diploma.

Anyway, I called the company where I had placed the order and was told
the delay was caused by FedEX since the package had left Boston and
there was no snow storm in Boston.

I called FedEx for the second time, once again,I was told the same B.S.,
SNOW STORM IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, by another employee. Unfortunately,
the employee refused to accept my claim for damage since FedEx still has
not attempted the delivery and that there were too many packages for
delivery during this time of the year.

Regardless of all the SNOW STORMS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, I will file a
dispute with my credit card company for FedEx's unreliable and deceitful
service. In addition, I WILL make sure my company will NOT continue to
do business with FedEx again!

They're subcontracting and their service is absymal
12/21/2007 19017 PA

Within the last two months, we've had three merchants use Federal
Express to send their items. None were delivered on time. Each time we
inquired, we were told that no one was at home and to come pick them up
at their delivery depot. One of the items, parts for a high-end stove
was completely destroyed and no report was made to either the sender or
to us. I am home every day. I haven't had a car for months. During these
two months, I've had a delivery from UPS practically every day, as we're
redoing our house and ordering a lot of merchandise. Not once has UPS
failed to find me at home. Tonight (12/21) I received a message that the
latest item, ordered on December 6th, should be picked up as no one was
at home, and to contact Fed Ex to make arrangements!. I paid $8.50 for
delivery, ordered in plenty of time and of course have been at home.
Tonight is Friday night, the Fed Ex depot is closed on Sunday and
Monday; Tuesday is Christmas. So, I'm supposed to run about 11 miles
away tomorrow amid the last-minute Christmas shoppers for a 2-pound box
of expensive cashews because our Fed Ex driver seemingly refuses to
deliver to our address (17 miles from the city in the hinterlands of the
Philadelphia suburbs). This company should be out of business. P.S. I
did try to call them as the merchant directed me but, as one would
expect, the phone rings busy and then disconnects. I'm sure a lot of
people are missing their Christmas gifts

Lies about delivery attempts
12/21/2007 Tucson AZ

I was at my office, lights on doors open for the whole day. FedEx
tracking states that the package will be delivered by 7:00pm. Notice on
the tracking it states 5:10 Business closed customer not available.

I am currently writing this review while waiting for customer support to
answer the phone - 30 minutes so far.

Fedex
11/30/2007 brooklyn NY

I got a door tag from Fedex for an over night delivery. A second attempt
was supposed to be made the next two days. My wife was home, no door
bell rang, however when we checked online, Fedex records showed that
they attepmted to deliver it twice. The shipment was delivered back to
the sender. I am very angry at Fedex.

Do they know how to read a map?
11/1/2007 Houston TX

Yesterday, I was waiting for a delivery of a paintball marker from
Actionvillage.

Waited for most of the day. Finally, at 3pm, I decide to go track the
package. Imagine to my surprise when I saw that there was a delivery
exception, which said "customer is not available or business is closed".

I called Fedex and restraining my anger, calmly explained to the service
rep that the driver had attempted delivery to the wrong house (Theres a
house with the same number as mine, but on a different street) and that
the driver had not shown up at all to my house.

The service rep "tried" (I don't know if it really happened or not) to
send a message to the warehouse terminal to see if they could get a hold
of the driver to see if the package could be redelivered. But alas, it
was a no go and I have to wait again today to see if the package gets
delivered.

Just makes me wonder if drivers can take 5 minutes to read a street sign
instead of assuming they are on the right street.

How can FedEx Ground Screw You
10/5/2007 San Francisco CA

I have been tracking my package delivery on the Web. As today was the
estimated delivery date, I stayed home to accept and sign for the
package. Later on in the afternoon, while I was still anxiously awaiting
delivery, I checked the website--at 12:50 PM it showed "delivery
exception", "customer not available." I have been home all day; no one
rang my buzzer. I checked my front entrance and no door tag was left. I
called FedEx to verify they had the correct address; the address they
had was error-free. Though it was only about 5:15 PM when I called, I
was told the package could not be held for pick-up the next day. I will
not be home tomorrow (Saturday) and, as FedEx Ground does not deliver on
Sundays or Mondays, I will have to wait at least an additional four days
for my package.

I have had no issues with UPS, USPS or DHL. In the future I will not
order products from merchants who use FedEx Ground.

Lost Package
9/27/2007 Scottsdale AZ

On Friday morning I sent a package, from Alaska containing two envelopes
and some paperwork for my son's schooling, very important paperwork
needed for his loans for school, and paperwork from his deceased father
for him to have. I paid the extra amount asked for so that it could be
delivered on Saturday. Monday, my son called from Arizona and stated he
had yet to receive the package.

I called customer service on their 800 number and was referred to
someone in Scottsdale, Arizona who told me that he showed the package
had been delivered on Saturday at 11:18 a.m. and there was a signature
on file. When I told him my son didn't get the package, he told me to
check with the office since there was an apartment number on the package.

After calling my son back and advising him of what I was told, he went
to the office to check on the package. He called me while he was in the
office. They looked in every nook and cranny of the office and still no
package.

I again called customer service and was referred to the same person in
Scottsdale, Arizona. He then said that he would talk to the delivery
driver and see what he could remember. Both times I talked to this
person, he said he would call me back.

Again, the next day, I called customer service and was connected with
the person in Scottsdale, Arizona. The story then was the driver said he
had delivered it to the front door of the apartment. My son and his
roommate had been home all day Saturday and no one rang the doorbell or
knocked on the door. They were waiting for the package because I had
told them on Friday it would be delivered on Saturday.

When I questioned the person in Scottsdale about the signature on file,
he stated there was no signature on file. This was a delivery to the
front door package. When I asked why I had been told there was a
signature on file, he said he didn't know why anyone would tell me that.
When I told him it was him that had told me that, he said he wouldn't
say any such thing because that was not on the screen in front of him.

I confronted him about the different stories I was receiving and he said
all he could tell me was what was on the screen in front of him and that
he was very sorry, but the package seemed to be lost and FedEx was not
at fault. I could put in a claim for the amount I paid to ship the
package. He said that lost packages do not happen very often, but this
seemed to be one of those times.

I told him that it seemed drivers that drive the same route, no matter
how busy, should be able to be familiar with their route and go back
over the previous day in their mind and figure out where or what he did
with the package. The apartment building that the package was delivered
to has a policy of deliveries being made to the office, not to a
specific apartment. When I talked to the person in Scottsdale, he stated
that in those cases there is usually a signature of file and the package
is left in the office drop box or in a secure area near the office. Yet
when I talked to the same person the next day I got a completely
different story.

Now I am faced with the stuff in the two smaller envelopes I sent being
lost and the paperwork for my son's schooling lost and maybe he may not
be able to get the loan he needs because of the time involved in him
sending me the paperwork again for me to fill out my portion and again
send it back to Arizona. Yet all I get told is I'm sorry, but we do not
put any value on paperwork or anything else in the envelope, so you can
file a claim for the shipping cost! It doesn't matter that my son may be
kicked out of his apartment or even his school because FedEx did not do
their job properly or can't even remember if they did, but I can file a
claim for the shipping cost! Do I sound bitter? You bet I do and that
doesn't even begin to describe my feelings at this time!

My advice, don't use FedEx! They don't value you as a customer nor do
they value anything you might be shipping that is a part of your life,
but has no value to them! They don't hesitate to tell you that they are
not responsible for losing the package nor the fact that paperwork has
no value to them! Never mind the fact that some of the paperwork was
from my deceased husband and can never be replaced! If you are sending
ANYTHING IMPORTANT DO NOT USE FEDEX!!!!

Fed Ex Does Not Deliver On Time And They Lie
7/11/2007 Bethesda MD

Wrote an extended review but it got kicked out when I tried to cut and
paste. to put it simply--vital documents I needed for a family trip
(non-refundable tickets worth $5000) did not arrive with the overnight
delivery. People in the Fed Ex office said they would deliver the next
day. Never came. Web site tracking said there was a problem with the
address. My wife called and the address was fine. They said they would
deliver by 3 PM that day. Never came. Eventually, she made the long trip
to the depot and got it--more than two days late. No refund (as promised
in their promos for overnight delivery) and no apology or explanations.

AVOID THESE GUYS AT ALL COSTS IF YOU REALLY NEED TO HAVE IMPORTANT
DOCUMENTS DELIVERED ON TIME.

Why Not Just Ring The Bell?
6/4/2007 Chicago IL

I ordered a package and always list my bell number on the package
because my building has this buzzer system where the list of names is
not in alphabetical order and the bell numbers have no association to
the actual apartment number. I sat home all day waiting on the package
checking numerous times to ensure that the package would not be missed.
I check the tracking online and they said I was unavailable! I was
sitting there waiting and they labeled it that way 10 minutes after I
had last checked an hour before! Are these people morons or just lazy
package handlers? Which is worse?

Where did the package go
7/20/2006 RAVENNA KY

I LIVE 2 MILES OFF OF A MAIN ROAD THE FED EX COMPANY MAY IN BE OK. iT IS
JUST THE DRIVER FOR OUR AREA WILL NOT BRING MY PACKAGES TO THE HOUSE HE
WILL LEAVE THEM 2 MILES FROM WHERE I LIVE. I HAVE COMPLAINES TO FED EX
ABOUT THIS MAN AND WAS TOLD WELL YOU GOT YOUR PACKAGE DIDN'T YOU. OUR
ROAD DOES HAVE BLACK TOP.
I ORDER ON LINE A LOT AND IF POSSIBLE I WILL NOT USE FED EX I PREFER UPS
BECAUSE THEY WILL BRINGS MY PACKAGES TO THE HOUSE.
I AM HANDICAPPED AND IT IS NOT ALWAYS CONVENIENT FOR ME TO HUNT DOWN MY
PACKAGES, BESIDES I PAY FOR MY PACKAGES TO BE DELLIVERED TO MY HOME.

International FEDEX Thieves Corporation
7/6/2006 Tampa FL

Step 1 - you ship a package with several quite small electronic devices
(mp3/mp4 players).

Step 2 - as many countries have weird customs laws you declare the value
to be under 100$ (so your recipient would not have to pay customs duties)

Step 3 - it takes 50% longer for your package to arrive and as you track
it - it goes via very weird route.

Step 4 - it finally arrives to the destination, but its weight is
significantly lighter.

Step 5 - When your recipient opent the package - he sees that the
contents of boxes are gone stolen.

Step 6 - You have fun with FEDEX trying to at least get your shipping
money and insurance amount back.

Step 7 - Remember they have thieves working for them and do not care
about you!!!

No package & Tracking literally worthless
5/30/2006

I ordered a large shipment of candles that were shipped on 5/24/06 Fedex
Ground Home Delivery. As of the date of shipping the estimated delivery
date was 5/27/06 (Saturday). On 12am on Saturday it shows as leaving GA
(I'm in FL)... and that's the last the tracking shows.

Since then I've called Fedex a few times with absolutely no help. The
only thing they can tell me is exactly what I already see on the
tracking info which still leaves me at "Where is my package??"

If you notice as of today 5/30 not only has there been no updates,
they've also removed the estimated delivery date of 5/27/06 and there is
NO estimated delivery.

When I called on Saturday I was told by the guy I spoke with that it was
in FL, when I called today the guy I spoke with said it's on it's way to
FL (going by the tracking...).

I'm providing the detailed tracking below to show what bs this is, but
mainly because I'm expecting the tracking to be "adjusted"

Each time I've called the support comments "this is ground home
delivery..." like "WHY ARE YOU CALLING???" And everytime I think... WHY
ARE YOU OFFERING THE SERVICE????

I can't fathom why Fedex is having such a hard time with this. UPS has
never complained about a service they offer, and they live up to their
name. Fedex on the otherhand seems to offer it in competition, but
doesn't really want to be bothered by it.

I don't know about everyone else, but for me - I believe if Fedex
actually told people what their Home Delivery really entitled you to
(which I believe should be the same standard as every other service)
they would lose alot of their business to UPS which offers the same
service on a higher and more reliable level.

Fedex Lies About Delivery Attempts
5/18/2006 tucson AZ

I get a notifcation from Apple they are shipping my package and I check
the tracking on Fedex and see a delivery attempt has already been made
(funny no note was left). The next day I make sure someone is home and
check the tracking site periodically. Sure enough late in the afternoon
it states another delviery attempt was made but no one was home. I check
my home security cameras and see that sure enough on the first day the
driver shows up, rings the bell once and leaves without leaving a note.
On day two the truck never came at all as proven by my security footage!
Now I'm calling Fedex who keeps calling the ground station and I have to
try to get them to hold the package and go pick it up. I have asked them
several times how a driver can get by with lying like that and have
never gotten a response as to what they are going to do about it. My
point is: how many people do they do this to? I have written a complaint
to Apple and asked them to reconsider who they ship with.

Always a good experience with FedEx
4/12/2006

I receive lots of packages from several shipping companies. I always
choose to have items shipped via FedEx wherever possible because the
experience is always good. I've never had a package delayed or damaged,
and their ground transit times are faster than other companies in many
cases. The tracking info is always accurate, and in some cases it even
gets into their local facility a day before the estimated date and they
deliver a day before they have to.

The only time I've had to call their customer service was when setting
up my FedEx account due to their website having problems (kept saying
address was invalid). I got right through to them with no waiting on
hold and they were very courteous and helpful.

I also ship quite a few packages to all different parts of the country,
and I ship most everything FedEx because it always goes smooth (I also
ship DHL which is another good company, but every experience I've had
with UPS has been horrible). Nothing I've shipped via FedEx has been
damaged, and transit times are accurate.

Again, I deal with quite a bit more than just 1 or 2 packages a month,
and FedEx provides great and reliable service every time.

Just my $0.03

Fed Ex(ceptionally bad)
1/21/2006 NY

WHY CARRIER PIGEON BEATS FED EX: Jan 5th package ordered Jan
21st...still not there!

US POST CAN FIND ME: On 1/10 I received a POSTCARD that the postman
could deliver telling me that FedEx could not find my homne. I sent FULL
detailed directions by EMAIL as requested to I
NEVER heard from her or got my package.

CALLS MEAN NOTHING: I called FedEx(ceptionally bad) several days later
and they seemed to know nothing about my email. I gave DETAILED
directions by phone and they promised next day it would arrive. It did
not arrive!

PROMISES MEAN NOTHING: I called again on 1/19 and spoke to CHRIS who
said he would go and hand carry my package to the delivery station for
SATURDAY delivery. I again gave DETAILED directions and my CELL PHONE.
Today it is not here. I now called and was told they would NEVER deliver
my package on Saturday no matter what they had done to delay it and that
they could not imagine anyone making that promise. Yes, it is on the
truck and may be delivered in two more days.

AT ALL COSTS: Avoid having your packages shipped by this incompetent
group of people who do not communicate with each other, know their own
policies or care about your order.

package which is suppose to be delivered from u.s.a to canada would
shuttle between memphis and canada in their doubious tracking results,
no one knows where actual package is. this is very very common in Fedex
Canada.

Recently they sent me another rip off bill of already paid invoice for
300$. Even their accounting system is full of liars and jokers.

Good thing about them: "sorry" , " i apologise" " you have a good day"
This is what they know to rant 10000 times a day without any regards to
service for what they are paid for..

Online Shipment Tracking or Web of Lies?
11/23/2005 Fort Myers FL

Is online shipment tracking a total fabrication on the part of FedEx?
It's the day before Thanksgiving, and I'm waiting at my office for a
pumpkin cheesecake to be delivered. I check the tracking site, and this
is what I see...

Nov 22, 2005 10:45 PM At Local FedEx facility FORT LAUDERDALE, FL
Nov 23, 2005 6:00 AM At desk sort facility FORT MYERS, FL
Nov 23, 2005 7:08 AM On FedEx vehicle for delivery FORT MYERS, FL

No problem, right? The FedEx facility is right down the street so it
should be here any minute. Right? WRONG! It turns out that the package
never made it to Fort Myers, and went to Tampa instead. This leads me to
one conclusion -- despite all the fancy communication devices they have
to supposedly give you real-time updates are all for show. They
apparently still have no idea where your package is. Of course, that
doesn't seem to stop them from making something up on the online
tracking site.

FEDEX FAILURE TO BE RESPONSIBLE
8/20/2005 NY

FOR MANY YEARS, I HAVE THOUGHT OF FEDEX TO BE TOP OF THE LINE DELIVERY.
WELL, THE PAST 5-8 YEARS, THEY'VE PROVEN ME WRONG. I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S
THE COMPANY AS A WHOLE, OF JUST THE LAZY GOOD FOR NOTHING DRIVERS.
SOMETHING MUST BE DONE ABOUT THEIR SLOPPY AND IRRESPONSIBLE BEHAVIOR. I
HAVE HAD PERMISSION FROM MY POST OFFICE, TO HAVE DELIVERIES DROPPED OFF
WITH THEM, AS MY ROAD IS IMPASSABLE IN THE WINTER. THAT'S NO A PROBLEM.
THE PROBLEM IS WHEN IT'S THE MIDDLE OF THE SUMMER, AND THE PACKAGE, THAT
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR, FOR 2 WEEKS, NEVER GOT TO ME, BUT TO THE POST
OFFICE. TO TOP THAT, THE BOX WAS MANGLED, AND HALF OF ITS CONTENTS WERE
MISSING. THIS IS THE LAST STRAW! I HAVE HAD VERY IMPORTANT MATERIALS GO
MISSING, NEVER DELIVERED, LEFT ON OTHER FRONT DOOR STEPS, MANGLED,
MISSING, YOU NAME IT! THE HORROR OF IT ALL, IS THAT I AM IN ANIMAL
RESCUE AND MOST OF WHAT I HAVE DELIVERED IS MEDICAL. SYRINGES AND
NEEDLES, AND MEDICATIONS. IF THESE THING FALL INTO THE WRONG HANDS, WHO
IS TO BLAME? I WOULD THINK IT WOULD BE FEDEX. SPEAKING OF MEDICAL,
AREN'T OUR HOSPITALS AND DOCTORS USING FEDEX AS WELL? I WOULD THINK THAT
THEY WOULD BE JUST AS CONCERNED ABOUT HAVING MEDICAL MATERIALS FALLING
INTO THE WRONG HANDS. I'M NOT ONE TO PICK ON EVERY LITTLE MISTAKE THAT
PEOPLE MAKE, BUT THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE, AS
THE YEARS GO BY. I THINK IT WOULD BE WISE IF FEDEX SOLD THEIR COMPANY TO
A MUCH MORE RELIABLE DELIVERY COMPANY. IT YOU CAN'T GET THE JOB DONE
RIGHT, THEN GIVE IT TO SOMEONE WHO CAN. THANKS FOR LETTING ME VENT.

DO NOT USE THEM
8/19/2005 Toronto

Fedex needs to be bought over by a better managed company.

I recently had a shipment sent to me from the UK, through FEDEX, and as
it was subject to duty they left me a note to that effect.

I live in a Condo, with a 24 hour concierge. Also there is an entry
phone in the foyer. With all this, the highly educated staff at FEDEX,
still managed to "make a delivery attempt" without calling me from the
entry phone, nor contacting the concierge using the entry phone.

After these two bogus delivery attempts, I now have to go and pick up
the shipment myself.

Word of advice, use a company mode honest and reliable.

Useless-- why not use USPS Priority Mail
7/1/2005 Oakland CA

I have had so many fouled up deliveries with FedEx. This is just the
most recent typical disaster:

Wednesday-- attempted delivery, nobody home, but FedEx driver did not
leave a tag or message

Thursday-- 2nd attempt, nobody home, left no tag, but phone message
saying sorry I ran out of tags but call the 800 number for more
information about your package

Friday-- I call FedEx 800 number and ask package to be left on porch if
nobody home. Sure, they say, no problem. By 6:30pm package has not
arrived so I call 800 number again and they say they attempted delivery
in the afternoon but nobody home, they don't know why package was not
left on porch as requested, and sorry, they can't do anything about it.
I insist the package be delivered tonight. When it arrives after 9pm I
find out about the first Wednesday attempt, and that the package was
going to be sent back, is marked "Last Attempt."

Why bother with FedEx? Why pay the extra money? Seems like USPS is more
reliable. Every time I get a package sent through them I have to make a
bunch of phone calls and be really insistent with their customer service
just to get my package 3 days late.

Left boxes, did not ring doorbell, 1 box was open.
5/26/2005

Wednesday I received 2 very large boxes left at my front door, one box
was open, and they did not knock or even ring the doorbell. The open box
had all it's contents, thank God. They are not suppose to deliver opened
boxes. I guess the guy did not want to take it back and file a report on
the open box. Last time I will use FED EX.

FedEx delivery is very BAD. Customer no-service is worse!
1/28/2005 Orlando suburbs FL

For years I have endured this
"POX" on American business! So many deliveries not made to me, no
delivery notices left, some notices left on the road, and very bad
mannered customer service representatives.

The latest disaster involved a shipment from a prominent American
uninteruptible Power supply Company shipped via "FedEx" dispite my
selection of a competing U.s.a. Parcel Shipping company for delivery.

After 7 days of nothing, I checked my order status from this American
made uninteruptable Power supply Company and discovered the shipping
switch. I recovered the tracking number for this sale.

I checked the "FedEx" web site and was not surprised to learn that this
shipment was being held at the FedEx shipping warehouse due to the
package being "undeliverable". (No signature available).

I am disabled and house bound! I rely on the Web for purchases and
deliveries, including medications. I am here 24/7/365 PERIOD!
Nobody--NOBODY came to my door anytime within the previous 30 days!

The following day my wife put the trash cans out for pickup, and as she
was cleaning up the loose trash on the roadside, You guessed it! 20 or
so feet down the road, on the road edge after an all night rain and
having been run over by cars several times, was the "Door Tag"! There IS
NO possible way this tag could have blown from our front door to this
location! Thee were NO winds at all that evening, the previous, or any
time within the previous month! It's 60 feet+ from the front gate to our
door. We have a fenced in property with thick 8 foot shrubs all along
the fence! This is typical treatment we receive from FedEx! (This has
been happening to me on and off for YEARS!)

A recent discussion with the FedEx "Customer Advocate Rep." over this
treatment resulted in an even more disgusting treatment!

I'm sure you all know the "Personality type" that is offended if you ask
for her/his name (For your records)... and when it's pronounced, it's
unintelligeable! If you ask for a spelling, you have offended them in a
great way! From there it goes DOWN HILL! Obfuscation, repeating minor
discussion details from several minutes prior and claiming that current
minor details are at odds with previous details... The germain issue in
question is ignored! After redirecting the "Rep" back onto the main
issue, the reason for the call, the "Rep" falls back into the "Your not
respecting my authority" mode! and round and round it goes.

I chose to tell her that I wanted to focus on the issue concerning
"Failure to deliver and claiming that no one was home". Her response?
"I'm ending this call because your Hostile"! The word "itch" comes to
mind here... You know, like scratching the side of your head???... an
"Itch".

An hour later I received a call from a senior manager in my area. He
seamed to be aware of the problem... What I learned: FedEx uses
independent subcontractors to deliver. I believe I understand the nature
of the problem now.

FedEx gives your packages to anyone with a truck painted with FedEx
colors. Good Luck!

Just as easy to get a list of UPS or USPS failures.

My cousin flys the China Alaska route for UPS.

UPS is a pretty good company, even if your cousin works for them. I
find
the US Postal Service significantly less expensive and no slower for
delivery of the "care packages" of food snacks I send to my
college-attending nephews in Illinois and Florida. Some of the extra
expense of UPS is due to the fact that around here, the parcels are
handled by small private companies that add about 20-25% to the
cost of
UPS shipping rates.

*Most* of the extra expense for UPS packages is because they are a
heavily unionized company. Equivalent service with FedX is cost
competitive, and your package stands a much higher chance of making
there in one piece with FedX.

Well, *this* took two seconds to pop up, jackoff:

UPS stores would refuse to give a receipt and I was always afraid that
my package gets lost in store or employee steals it; so I switched to
Fedex.

The gentleman now
told me that the delay was due to a SNOW STORM IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA,
unknowing that I am currently in California, and have been living in the
state for the last 30 years (Hahaha)!!! That was a good one;
unfortunately, I believe FedEx needs to retrain its employees on how to
B.S. with some common senses or they should consider hiring people with
at least a high school diploma.

Are these people morons or just lazy
package handlers? Which is worse?

FedEx gives your packages to anyone with a truck painted with FedEx
colors. Good Luck!

Packages from FedEx, UPS, and the Postal Service

There are times when you might need "next day" to mean exactly that. To
check on timing and overnight shipping rates, we recently sent 48
packages from facilities near our Yonkers, N.Y., headquarters to 16
Consumer Reports shoppers in 12 states. Each recipient got three
packages, one from each shipper, containing a paperback book ("The
Consumer Reports Buying Guide").

Our destinations were as near as New York City and as far as Lake
Oswego, Ore. We packed the books in a bag, box, or envelope based on the
shipper’s recommendation; dropped off the packages midweek within hours
of one another; and used regular next-day delivery. That’s Standard
Overnight for FedEx, Express Mail for the Postal Service, and Next Day
Air Saver for UPS.

Every package reached its destination the next day. But overnight
shipping prices to the same place differed by as much as 281 percent.
The Postal Service was the least expensive by far for local and
long-distance deliveries. For letter-size envelopes, such as the ones it
gave us for sending the books, it charges a flat rate of $16.50. (Flat
rates for slower delivery are lower.)

The other shippers base prices on weight and distance traveled. UPS
charged $62.87 to send our book next-day to Oregon and $29.55 to
Manhattan. FedEx charged $54.57 and $27.48, respectively.

We also checked prices to send a 5-pound package from New York to
California regular next-day, two-day, and slower ground. The Postal
Service won again in the first two categories and more or less tied in
the third (see 3 Shippers, 3 Time Frames). And unlike the other
carriers, the Postal Service doesn’t add a fuel surcharge, which is
adjusted monthly by the other carriers. In September it was about 10
percent for domestic ground shipments and 27 percent for those sent by
air. The Postal Service also offers discounts of 3 percent to 11 percent
to customers who arrange their shipping online.

Asked how the Postal Service, an independent part of the U.S.
government’s executive branch, can deliver overnight shipping for less,
a spokeswoman, Yvonne Yoerger, said: "We have an infrastructure in place
and letter carriers everywhere. We’re simply adding package delivery to
a network that already exists."

If you need a letter or package delivered faster than next-day, FedEx
and UPS have the edge. Both offer same-day service and delivery first
thing next morning. All the Postal Service can do is promise delivery by
sometime the following business day, depending on destination and
shipping time.
Bottom line

All three delivered next-day mail as promised, but the good old U.S.
Postal Service is often cheapest by far.

*Most* of the extra expense for UPS packages is because they are a
heavily unionized company. *Equivalent service with FedX is cost
competitive, and your package stands a much higher chance of making
there in one piece with FedX.

Sorry, jackoff, but if I drop my packages at the UPS terminal, instead
of one of the independent retail stores, the prices fall significantly..
Nice try.

Oh...I have found FEDEX much less reliable than either UPS or the USPS..

Sorry, but the rest of the world has a different experience with
shipping.

FedX is the best if it is something you care about and you want it to
actually get there. *USPS and UPS is about tied in their ability to
deliver, and is below FedX.

Your dementia is kicking in again.

Separately bubble rapped and tightly packed two studio monitors in one
box, with speaker faces covered with reinforced cardboard. Sent out
from a local UPS shipper store. Receiver said he received only one
speaker, and it was demolished. I filed a claim and 3 weeks later the
package was picked up and returned to me with a claim denied for
packaging error.

One of the speakers was totally gone, disappeared. UPS could not even
find it. The package weighed 31 pounds when i shipped it, it arrived
weighing about 14 pounds. UPS had nothing to say. I'll NEVER EVER USE
ups AGAIN. This cost me about 100 for a pair of 80 speakers, that i
couldn't even sell or use, or get them returned to me. I would have
been better off just setting the speakers on fire and cook marsh
mellows over them.

I own am Custom Glass Sign and Mirror company. I have been shipping
with UPS for 4 years now. 2 Parcels where broken last year within 17
days of each other. The first claim was denied. Once I provided UPS
with proof the parcels are packaged and crated above and beyound their
guide lines they approved the claim.I am going through the same long
drawn out process of proving my case once again. I have already made a
new mirror for my client and shipped it out to them. I am in the
process of writing a letter to the CEO of UPS , Mr D. Scott Davis. I
will be sending him a CERTIFIED LETTER discussing issues and concerns.
If my claim for 2500.00 is denied I intend to take them to small
claims court.

A guitar shipped by store #4185 in Providence, RI arrived at my
apartment damaged from shipment last week. The shipper contacted the
UPS store on several occasions instructing them to file a claim, and
they refused--stating that it is the recipient's responsibility. UPS
policy clearly states that the shipper (the UPS store in this
instance) is responsible for all claims. The store flat refused to
file the claim, and has been unresponsive to my requests for
information on the claim. I filed the claim as the recipient, and now
UPS wants to pick up the guitar and ship it back to the UPS store--
which makes no sense. I paid for the guitar, and want to keep it--the
claim was filed for repair value, not replacement. If I allow it to be
shipped back, I cannot rest assured that I will ever get the guitar
back, nor can I be assured that the claim money will be awarded to me--
it would also go the shipper. In fact, UPS has stated on several
occasions that I WILL NOT get the guitar back if I go through with the
claim. I am basically completely stuck with no options left, and I
cannot trust this UPS store #4185 or UPS in general. The UPS store
#4185 in Providence, RI has been completely irresponsible during this
process, causing me to just about give up on the claim and never ship
with UPS again.

Also, the UPS store was asked to pack and ship the guitar, and they
have made the claim that the customer brought it in packed. The
shipper did buy insurance in excess of the value--300--and the claim
was only for a repair estimate of 150.

took out would not be covered. When I shipped this item I shipped it
in the original box that sears shipped it in. And specifically asked
the driver before I helped him load it on the truck is this package ok
to ship and his reply was absolutely.I need some help if you can
please with this. I have seen nothing but nightmares about trying to
hold ups responsible for creating damages.

John of Emmaaus, PA December 18, 2009

I shipped a small machine in UPS boxes. I used two boxes and packed
the hell out of it. There was absolutely no movement. I shipped it
UPS, and took out 500.00 worth of insurance, as this was the amount I
needed to insure a 325.00 item The machine arrived with the box
smashed. The UPS driver told my customer not to worry, that it was
insured, and he remembered the box being dropped. From the damage to
the machine, it was at least a 5 foot straight drop. Even though UPS
states that it alone does package inspections, they sent it to a third
party for inspection. Their insurance company. They stated that it
wasn't packaged properly.

My brother had shipped a 25.00 item through ups with the same
results. He also took out their insurance. And his claim was also
denied. UPS sucks. In fine print, somewhere in their logs, they state
that every bit of packing material must be included in any return, and
it must be packaged EXACTLY as received. Hey. There ain't two
snowflakes alike. If that is their requirement, it should be in LARGE
PRINT on their UPS labels, so individuals who do not deal with UPS on
a regular basis can know. It seems to be a way to charge for
insurance, make extra money, and never have to pay a claim.

I shipped a "high impact plastic" dog kennel (an item that is intended
to ship a 75-150 lbs live dog on an airplane). I placed the shipping
container in a cardboard box because I put some clothing in it. I
insured it. The UPS store excepted the package and shipped it. The
high impact plastic kennel was broken.

I issued a claim for the kennel. UPS denied the claim saying that the
cardboard box was not strong enough.

A) The item shipped was in-and-of-itself, a shipping container.
According to retail stores that sell the item, the kennel could have
been shipped WITHOUT a box. B) Let's assume under UPS guidelines, it
did need a box. The UPS store accepted the package, as I packed it and
charged me for insurance. This acceptance of the package should place
the UPS store in full responsibility for approval of the cardboard
container and the method of packing (to UPS standards).

Tracking# 1Z3W5R244229304467 In any event, the care with which this
package was treated is in question. You would have to take a hammer to
this item, or throw it from a moving truck to break it.

Below is an excerpt of a description of the item from the internet:

"Petmate Traditional Vari Kennel Portable Kennel (giant; 48"l X 32"w X
35"h; Tan; Plastic) By petmate, inccarriers Description: Portable Dog
Kennels: Petmate Kennel, Portable Dog Kennel, Petmate Brand Deluxe

appointments, pet shows, and more. Airline approved transportation
easily converts to a pet shelter or bed--and is great for crate
training. The Vari Kennel line is made of high-impact plastic"

I used UPS to ship a package that could not be flipped over. The store
manager assured me it would not be flipped over and their employees
also stamped in with "this end up" and other stamps. UPS not only
flipped the package updside down but it was dropped several times. I
filed a complaint because I did insure the package. UPS's insurance
company denied payment even though the store manager called them and
said that they had told me it would not be flipped. I was denied my
claim because I had 2 1/2" of packing vs. 3".

Ron of Milwaukee, WI November 12, 2009

I am a regular seller on eBay and normally use the postal service for
shipping. On Oct 26, 2009 I sold a mega quilter and table to someone
in Washington State. Do to the size and the weight it was more
economical to send the packages through UPS. I boxed the items in four
boxes using 2" form around the products and foam peanuts to fill the
voids along with this I made cardboard inserts filled with heavy
crumpled up shopping bags. I took the boxes into the service center on
6th street in Oak Creek, Wisconsin and showed the counter person Joe
the boxes before I sealed them. He stated "everything was good" I
proceeded to secure the top with 2" pressure sensitive tape. We
labeled them and asked if I wanted insurance. I stated I would need to
have insurance enough to cover what the person bought them at. the
original price of the sewing machine and table was over 3000.00 I
insured it for the purchase price of 2 boxes for 700.00 each and two
Boxes for 300.00 each which totaled to 2000.00 for the shipment.

The packages arrived on the Friday of that week. The person who
receive it informed me that two of the boxes where dropped and that
they were going to take in the sewing machine to see if it could be
fixed (it could not). I informed her to get in touch with UPS because
the boxes where insured. She informs me she could not do anything and
was instructed to ship them back to the sender to file the claim. I
received the boxes back on the following Friday and inspected them.
The items where broke bent and jammed. I called UPS to place a claim
and this is where the nightmare stared. The person in the claim center
was very sorry for my damaged packages and would place the claim for
me. I asked can i bring in the packages to show the inspector the
damage. I did this because; if the inspector never worked with a
sewing machine or a quilting table they would not any what the are
looking for. the person at the claim center inform me that it is the
practice of UPS to have me box everything up and a diver will pick the
boxes up and take them to the center to be inspected by their staff
and I would be notified of the results.

The packages where picked up and they inspected the boxes and reported
to a third party processing center that the boxes where not packaged
properly, and that the claim was denied. The third party also did not
have any numbers to give to talk to some at the point that inspected
the boxes. I called the UPS claim center and requested a Supervisor
only after explaining this to three people and giving each person my
tracking numbers did I finally get to a supervisor. All were very
sorry for my damaged boxes and wanted to help me. This was sounding
like a canned response after a while. I inform the supervisor of the
problem and the response I got from the third party and want to know
the next step. The supervisor name Joe said I can dispute the findings
and reopened the claim. He just need to check on something and would
call me back in less then 1 hour.

Two hours later no call so I called the claim center again and after
explaining to two people that I needed to talk to Joe in claims they
transferred me to Jason in shipping, i ask Jason in shipping to
transfer me to Joes in Claims. Again I was placed on hold and Jason
came back on the line and told me he could. find Joe in claims, he
also was very sorry for my damaged boxes after a half an hour talking
to him to try a get the process on disputed claims, Jason inform me he
could not do anything. He also told me that i would half to wait for
someone in claims to call to give me the answers I asked. I am still
waiting.

*Most* of the extra expense for UPS packages is because they are a
heavily unionized company. Equivalent service with FedX is cost
competitive, and your package stands a much higher chance of making
there in one piece with FedX.

Well, *this* took two seconds to pop up, jackoff:

As I stated in my post, such complaints are easy to find.
You've offered nothing to substantiate your claim abut FEDEX, dickhead.

OK, OK, but they've done all right by me. So far.

Well, they usually do, John. And I've actually recieved good service
from them. But it seems like the old adage is true. "A good deed never
is noticed, but a bad deed is never forgotten"

Occasionally they'll put my stuff on the wrong truck, and instead of
the usual one day service ends up being two days. But that's rare,
that is unless I'm badly needing the parts I ordered!

Then it never fails to fail.

Don't get me wrong, I still use them. They know what's going on, so just
insure your stuff for a bit extra;)

Scotty

Sheesh...advice from SnottyScotty, one of the two reigning newsgroup
morons.

Harry I am so glad you and Tim are now good buddies, it is nice to see
he supports the positive influence you have had on this group.

Well, of course I can talk because I actually worked in the industry.
Unlike Harry who likes them purely for political purposes, they are a
union outfit, period.

Scotty

Not everywhere. Some drivers here are union and others aren't. My
friend who is a union UPS driver handed out McCain bumper stickers
before the election.

Nothing except my real world experience, dickhead. While your
experience in the real world only allows you to email your work into
your employers, the rest of us interacts with our fellow workers.

We are out there with our fellow workers, and you are holed up in your
basement.

No question who has the grip on reality.

Why do you need to make your living in a basement?
