"The Boat U.S. Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water is offering local community nonprofit groups grants of up to $4,000 each to develop projects that address environmental and safety problems on local waterways. " $4000,00 bucks doesn't sound like much but when you spread around many of those packages, it's a pretty good deal. |

Yeah, pens and posters will go a long way towards cleaning up polluted waterways. And let's get some bumper stickers, too. After all, if the money were used for clean-up, or to help an environmental group put a bit of pressure on a corporation-owned state legislature, why...something good might happen. |

So does 4000 bucks, but that doesnt' go very far either. You do what you can. We have groups who schedule clean up days for the waterways, and get out there with a few hundred people armed with trashbags and picker-uppers who grab whatever trash is on the banks or in a couple of inches of water, fill the bags and take them to locations where trash trucks are waiting. The bags and the picker-uppers cost $$$. Usually, local trash companies donate use of their trucks and drivers for the day. $4000 buys a lot of trashbags. |

They have some outstanding cards and it's a great way to support them AND get something in return! I've used them for three years now. |
