Platinum Equity says Randy Hopper will continue to serve as president of Wood Manufacturing and will oversee production in Flippin of Ranger, Stratos and Champion boats. Hopper has led Wood for more than 20 years. The acquisition also includes the Wellcraft, Four Winns and Glastron boat brands, with factories in Cadillac, Mich., and Murfreesboro, Tenn." Maybe. Platinum Equity specializes in LBO's. More likely, the new owners will sell off the assets of a number of brand names it bought, and borrow to the degree possible off the rest of the brand names/factories/tangible assets, and saddle them with more debt than they have now. Think..."junk bonds." |
