Not exactly true. Of those that registered with a party, Democrats
outnumber Republicans 3 to 1. However, 50% of the voters are
Independents.

Massachusetts politics is a bit different than in most states, I think.
Although generally regarded as
one of the "bluest" of the blue states, it has often amazed me at the
number of conservative political
views that are expressed and held here, even among registered Democrats.

Overall, those who are registered Democrats tend to be far more
conservative than those more liberal Democrats found in other states.
If you recall, these MA conservative Democrats swung MA for Reagan
twice, and although still predominately Democratic, MA often elects a
Republican governor.

I'd also suspect your state's conservatives aren't as conservative as in
many states. As an example, your newest Senator would be considered
quite Liberal in some states. What do you think of him? He seems like a
good balance of fiscal conservancy and social consciousness.

I would agree. I have friends here that have been lifetime Democrats and
others
who are lifetime Republicans. The Dems tend to be more conservative than
those
elsewhere and the Republicans tend to be more liberal.

Virtually all of them are disgusted with the current crop of Washington DC
bureaucrats, on both sides
of the political spectrum.
