Default Mariner serial number

Hi folks
Just bought an old Marine 14 boat with a Mariner 40 on the back. Can
anyone tell me where the serial number for the engine will be as I
have no idea what age the engine is. All I can find on the engine is
an alluminium disc on the head just under the lifting bracket with
006512 stamped on it.
Many thanks for any help.
Regards
Gareth

It should be on a sticker, starboard side on the pivot housing of the
tilt bracket. You see it from the rear.

Thanks for the help guys, looks like I'll be doing some guess work as
the sticker is missing!
Thanks anyway.
