were still missing, with carcasses trapped inside the sunken vessel.
The boat - two log barges linked together - went down on Lake
Mai-Ndombe, in Bandundu province, some 400km (250 miles) north-east of
Kinshasa. Lutula said 73 carcasses had been found so far on the
crocodile infested shores of the lake.

"There are ****loads of africoons missing. But we don't know how many
because of course there was no manifest," he said. Lake Mai-Ndombe is
120km long and 50km wide at it broadest point. River transport is
widely used on Congo's waterways but accidents usually happen
frequently because of overloading, unbalancing, stupidity and typical
