I was thinking hand rails and maybe the rub rail on a dink. I just have a ring under my console right now, repairing a bad spot that I cut off. Just be aware that plastic is not as rigid as wood so if you are spanning something you need about twice as much support. In my case the load is totally in compression so that is not a problem.
