That's what I was told too. Never bought that.
But how the commissaryman convinced me to shut up about it was telling
me if I squawked too much he would have to throw ALL the cereal over
the side.
No way to tell which boxes had weevils.
Since that cereal was the best food on the ship, I shut up quick.

I like heavy coffee too. I won't drink the stuff my wife makes. She
likes coffee that taste's like anything BUT coffee! Same way with tea.

The stuff Starbucks is selling as its 'Christmas Blend' is a good
tasting coffee.

Bull****. I use about four heaping tablespoons of the stuff for six
cups of coffee.

See, that proves it. You have no taste buds. But then again, I don't
either. I like coffee to taste jsut a slight bit lighter than
Experesso.

When my wife's not looking, I use espresso roast in the coffeepot.
Good stuff.

I learned by accident. After seeing the weevils in some corn meal I

Army coffee sucked and turned me off coffee forever.

Depended on the unit as to the food. We had a head cook who worked at one
of the better restaurants in Marin County, who knew how to spice foods.

I had a mess sergeant in Germany who was a pastry buff. The regular
chow was OK, but this guy would get up way before anyone else and fix
all kinds of danish, cream rolls, etc. for breakfast. Truly a miracle
worker in the field.

Soon after that they took the mess section away from the company sized
units and moved them up to battalion. That's when the Army went to
't-rations', no cooking involved, just heat the trays and serve.
Everything tasted the same. Thank God for Tobasco.
