Put an explosive device under a cough cushion.
Hilarious.
Would have been even funnier if it had driven his spine up into his
brain pan or he hit his head on the edge of the table on the way down.
Freakin' really funny.
Assholes.
Oh, hell. The auto makers put that same exact terrible "explosive
device" right by the head and face of every driver......
I thought you were an engineer.
The crash sensor triggers an electrical impluse igniting a pellet of
sodium azide. The reaction generates nitrogen gas which fills a nylon
or polyamide bag at a velocity of 150 to 250 miles per hour. The
entire process occurs within 40 milliseconds at about 200 mph +/- 15.
In order for the airbag to cushion the head and torso with air for
maximum protection, the airbag must begin to deflate by the time the
body hits it. The very high internal pressures produce a surface as
hard as steel. The entire process occurs within 40 milliseconds from
inflation to deflation.
The deflation process is accomplished by completely opening the bottom
of the bag as the inflation process is proceeding.
The video in question shows the victim sitting on top of the bag which
launches him a good three feet straight up.
Straight up. Hardly harmless.- Hide quoted text -

I full well understand how an airbag works. Because of the cushion,
I'm betting the acceleration wasn't that great. Also, given the body
weight of the individual, that would also dampen the rate of
acceleration. The airbag can expand up to that three feet that he was
launched. Therefore, it is a lot different that if something only
inflated 8 inches and slung him three feet into the air.
Whatever.- Hide quoted text -
- Show quoted text -
And to be precise, if you were to drop the person from that three feet
onto the couch cushion, that would be the same force of impact that
propelled him three feet.
The thing I noticed however was that he seemed to be holding his lower
back when he hit the floor.. I know an impact like that would screw my
back up for a while, especially if I wasn't sitting up straight, like
relaxing on a couch. I would be ****ed.- Hide quoted text -

Oh, I never said that if I was the person being thrust into the air,
that I'd LIKE it, but it is NOT a terribly violent thing. May hurt a
bit, but that's about it.
I have a chronic back condition. I am guessing it would probably put me
off my feet for a week or two, more than just a "bit of a hurt"...

Mebbee it twernt the fall that hurt him. Could have been the hard landing.

When I said impact I really meant the launch... I am sure that launch
put a lot of force "directly" on his low back, when he hit the floor
there may have been some arms and legs that hit first...- Hide quoted text -

Still would be the same amount of force on his ass if he dropped from
3 feet onto the cushion.

Yeah, but coming down, you might be a bit sideways or put your legs or
hands down to break the force of the fall. Sitting, it was all on his
spine.. Not trying to argue, just saying, the guys back didn't stand a
chance and if you watch the video, even before he hits the ground, it
seems he was reaching for his low back...

And again, that person would put his hands or feet down. This guy got
hit straight up the spine with nothing to break the impact force...

Hey, who said "horse****"???? A force is a force. If it takes a certain
force to propel X amount of weight Y amount of distance, then simple
physics dictates that it would take the same force to stop that given
weight from the given distance.

Which do you think hurt more, the blast that sent him 3 ft up, or the
landing back down on the couch?

Idiots. Still could have permanent injuries he doesn't know about.

A very stupid thing to do. What kind of an asshole (that made it to
adulthood) would think that is funny?

The guy could have had a ruptured intestine or spinal injury. The
others had the opportunity to spend the rest of their lives in jail.

I'm not sure who it is that originally posted this (Loogy?) but my
