The bad news is: I held my own in a bar with a group of ironworkers. I don't plan on doing it again anytime soon. ![]() ========================= Were you in the Nedrow Tavern south of Syracuse? I don't think so, but it's possible. I'm still wondering where the panties in my shirt pocket came from... ![]() noah Last year, I went up a construction elevator about 450 feet over the Sacramento River with some ironworkers who were building a new bridge. I was scared into near speechlessness, which, for me, is plenty scared. Got some great photos, though. This is not a "union plug", but these guys are the toughest, hardest working, SOB's I've ever met. I felt honored to be invited out for an "end of job" bash. Anyone that doubts what these guys do on a day-to-day basis should catch one of the many PBS broadcasts on bridges and skyscrapers. I'd love to see a CEO walk an 8" beam 300 feet in the air! ![]() noah |
