That's like rallying the troops at the Alamo for "one last stand." For
everyone Mexican shot while charging the fort, ten more will fill the hole...

Iraq, Afghanistan and the rest of the Moslem tribal states will be the
Alamo of the United States in the 21st Century. At some point, enough
Americans will have come home in body bags so that the citizenry here
will send a clear message to the Smirking Chimp...get the hell out of
there...now.

Doesn't matter, John...even in those days, you needed some talent to get
into an apprenticeship program. You still would have been stuck sweeping
the floors and swabbing out the bathrooms.

Not so, Harry. It may shatter your perceptions but back in the sixties,
wallowing in my [relative] youth, I was a card-carrying member of the UB of
C & J of A. Built several large buildings. Well, a couple other guys
helped. :-)

Keep an eye on Isabel, Harry. Good Luck.

ever seen an on topic post remain on topic without someone hijacking the
thread into a political name calling thread. Have you noticed that none of
them have disagreed with me. Unfortunately, what you see is what they want.

Well, that was very helpful.

Last year, I went up a construction elevator about 450 feet over the
Sacramento River with some ironworkers who were building a new bridge. I
was scared into near speechlessness, which, for me, is plenty scared.
Got some great photos, though.

This is not a "union plug", but these guys are the toughest, hardest
working, SOB's I've ever met. I felt honored to be invited out for an
"end of job" bash. Anyone that doubts what these guys do on a
day-to-day basis should catch one of the many PBS broadcasts on
bridges and skyscrapers. I'd love to see a CEO walk an 8" beam 300
feet in the air! )

Does rec.boats.lounge sound like an option?
Why?
