Obama wins Nobel Prize?

I'm sorry folks, but this doesn't make any sense.

He had been in office for exactly TWO WEEKS before the selection was
made on Feb 1st of this year. He hasn't even been in office for a
freakin' year yet.

Isreal is planning an Iranian raid, he's got two wars going, is also
preparing for an Iranian incursion, he hasn't passed any of his agenda
and isn't likely to, he's backed off on every single campaign promise
he made including Gitmo, the economy is a wreck, Chrysler is doing
down the tubes as fast as you can say it with GM right behind, thrown
more of his homies under the bus than you can count, kept his mouth
shut about the Georgian/Russian conflict, threw the Iranians under the
bus when they revolted, backing a corrupt politician in Honduras, lost
the Olympics for Chicago and he wins a Peace Prize?

There isn't anybody else in the world working for peace that deserved
the prize?

It's a joke - has to be. Only it's not April.

he's winding down the war in iraq, moving to re-evaluate the failed
policies of his predecessor in afghanistan (which led nowhere for 7
years), is negotiating a nuclear arms reduction, the economy is
improving, he's moving on health care..

IOW he's achieved more in 8 months than bush did in 8 years...

So you are not willing to address the point that the prize should have
a criteria of extraordinary achievement, or a lifetime of productive
dedication and sacrifice to a humanitarian cause. As it stands now,
it's only an award for celebrity.

You righties seem to think what you call your "points" should be
addressed. By now, you should have figured out that I don't give a
flying **** about the opinions of you righties. All they are are
opportunities for ridicule, and not worthy of serious response.

The Nobel Committee sets the criteria for awarding the prizes, not a

Have a nice dull day.

Unlike those on the right, I'm always glad when Americans and America
win positive recognition in the world. Unlike those on the right, I love

The criteria for the award is set by the Nobel committee. Obama met the
committee's criteria. The side benefit is that it is giving many
righties apoplexy. That in itself is worthy of recognition.

It's crap like this that reduces the respect given for *any* Nobel
Prize. The prize is no longer the mark of achievement it once was.
Whether it bothers 'righties' or not is beside the point. It's obvious
the Nobel Committee has reduced its standards to 'be a celebrity'.

Damn shame, but quite humorous.

Oh please Bob - even you don't believe any of that. He's trying to
figure out how to add more troops to a war that is getting more
unpopular by the second - a WAR that he said was more important that
Iraq. His words.

Oh, by the way? The person who nominated him and pushed it?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...nderstood.html

Here's a choice quote - one of many.

"The majority of women around the world associate gender justice, or
justice for women, with sharia compliance."

Really. How about that. Under shari’a law, a woman’s testimony in
court only counts for half of that of a man. If a woman is raped, she
needs four male witnesses to prove her case. If she makes the
accusation and doesn’t find four witnesses, the victim gets charged
with fornication or adultery and faces death.

She also believes that women should not be in public office. I wonder
if she knows "Mam" Boxer or Botox Pelosi?

Come on man, you're smarter than that.

he made including Gitmo, the economy is a wreck, Chrysler is doing
down the tubes as fast as you can say it with GM right behind, thrown
more of his homies under the bus than you can count, kept his mouth
shut about the Georgian/Russian conflict, threw the Iranians under the
bus when they revolted, backing a corrupt politician in Honduras, lost
the Olympics for Chicago and he wins a Peace Prize?

There isn't anybody else in the world working for peace that deserved
the prize?

It's a joke - has to be. Only it's not April.

This could explain it:

"- Myth: The prize is awarded to recognize efforts for peace, human
rights and democracy only after they have proven successful."

"More often, the prize is awarded to encourage those who receive it to
see the effort through, sometimes at critical moments."

IOW, they hope he will change.

Republicans hate America but hate peace even more.

It's obvious - they've lost thier collective minds.

And even the Left is wondering what the hell happened.

"The time has not yet arrived and circumstances have not yet evolved
where Barack Obama is anywhere near the point where he has earned this
prize. I don't blame him for this capricious action; it was the Nobel
Peace Committee which committed the offense, which no doubt has Alfred
Nobel thumping his head against his casket."

Anybody want to bet he wins the Literature prize for "Dreams of My
Father"? It would make as much sense.

And we're finally getting Obama jokes - and we all know what happens
when a President becomes the butt of jokes.

Ezra Klein: Obama also awarded Nobel prize in chemistry. "He's just
got great chemistry," says Nobel Committee.

Barack Obama’s Teleprompter: Big Guy says Bill Clinton called and was
gracious in defeat; offered to fly Kanye West over 4 the Nobel awards
ceremony

Headline over AP analysis by White House correspondent Jennifer Loven:
He Won, But For What?

My personal favorite:

Erick Erickson: Obama is becoming Jimmy Carter faster than Jimmy
Carter became Jimmy Carter.
