Hello Jay, you wrote: Remember when you could go to RBP and... Yes, I remember, and I'm sad to see how RBP has pretty much faded away. As the few of us reading this know, some of us do still show symptoms of terminal optimism and pop in now and again; just to see if something interesting is happening. Aside from the very occasional flame war, RBP was always one of the more enjoyable and informative paddling discussion groups around (amongst newsgroups, email lists, and website message boards). By the way, has anyone seen any new stories from Ken Strickland? I miss those too, and I wonder how he's doing, and what he's up to. Yes, as a 60's singer put it: "Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end...." RBP was probably in its heighday in 1998. It rapidly went down the hill after that. I'm glad to have tasted a bit of what it was like, with it being more like a big family than a simple text based usenet group. As for Ken Strickland, I think that he posted one or two more stories on Boatertalk since he left RBP. Maybe they are in the Ken Strickland collection of Pete Staehling's website? -- Wilko van den Bergh wilkoa t)dse(d o tnl Eindhoven The Netherlands Europe ---Look at the possibilities, don't worry about the limitations.--- http://kayaker.nl/ |
