Hey, I have a gun. You don't want to break into my place in the
middle
of
the night. I have a Remingten 20 guage youth model. I don't think I
would
be able to take more than one shot, since it would like to knock me
on
my
butt. My granddad got it for me a couple of years ago.

"Youth Model," funny. Did it come with a bible?

? You never heard of that? It's for women or smaller people. Look it
up.

You really should go shoot it and get used to the proper way to hold
it. It will NOT knock you on your butt.
We had lots of ladies on the skeet league I was on and they all shot
12 gauge.
Skeet is an excellent shooting sport if you have a facility nearby and
they usually have certified instructors there who will teach you
everything you need to know about safe shooting and the game in
general.

What? Shoot defenseless skeet?

Are you unaware of the good work done by the Save the Skeets Foundation?

http://www.cartalk.com/content/features/Skeets/

Seriously, the Rem 870 20 gauge youth model (i'm guessing here) is a
fine
shotgun, and "Ms. Nom" ought to learn to fire it safely. There's not
that
much kick, and if it is troublesome, a pad can be installed.

It's Em. I was not completely serious about it actually knocking me down,
but I don't think I'd be in much control after the first shot.

A 20-gauge doesn't have a lot of kick, not even to a woman who doesn't
weigh much.

Yup...not much kick from my 20 ga.
We used to like holding the 12 ga shotguns at hip level and blast off
whatever it was capable of holding. (just like in the movies)

A 20 ga. is a great gun for rabbit hunting, but my dad always made me
use a .22. Got lots of rabbits with it though. My grandfather gave me
a 20 ga. while in high school, and I got a lot of rabbits with it.

Sure seemed like a lot to me when I tried it at a range. It didn't
hurt,
but
it sure pushed me back.

Then you might not have been "shouldering" it properly.

Take a look at this video...ignore the awful music and the weird looking
dudes.

Remember, near the beginning, the instructor tells the woman to lean
into
it...

Sometimes women (and men, too) have a rough time shooting a semi-auto
pistol...the pistol doesn't seem to cycle properly and jams. Usually the
cause is that they've limp-wristed the pistol. That means that they are
not pushing against the pistol with the stretch of hand between the
thumb
and pointer finger on the shooting hand. You need a tight grip on the
pistol so you can push back a bit on the recoil. The pistol needs that
resistance.

Video?

You know we're talking about a shotgun right? I've fired a handgun
before.
It didn't seem to be a problem...

Just like in "Roger and Me," where he told us of GM's impending
challenges, the "fat pig" might have a point to make on health care.

He made quite a few in "Sicko," but you would have to get past the
name
calling to take a look at it to see what that point might be.

I'll give you a clue:
The US is #1 ONLY in how much we pay, we are not #1 in life
expectancy,
or any other measure of health care. France, which has the #1 rated
health care system (we are #27) pays half what we pay.

You have to get over your bias towards new information to accept
that
France, or any number of other countries, might be a place we can
learn
from.

Watching out Health Care "debate" makes me wonder about how we can
expect to ever be #1 at anything when there are so many people
willing
to accept outright lies as fact, and make their choices based upon
false
info that fits their predisposed leanings.

Name calling is so much easier for the mentally challenged. And it
works so well.

I wonder how many illegal aliens are adding to the bad statistics in
France? I wonder how many of France's deaths are caused by inner city
shootings and knifings? Just wondering.- Hide quoted text -

Perhaps a few of you are just plain ignorant or have a strange fixation

A bunch of the righties here *are* ignorant, irrational, and fixated.

I just find it really illustrative that he and at least one other person
plonked me for basically nothing. Certainly nothing compared to what they

The only question I have is why do you think getting the government
involved will make that any cheaper or better?

These are the same people who bought the $600 toilet seats and the
$300 hammer. Maybe if you could shoot all the lobbyists and lawyers it
might work
but you would still have all those gold bricking congressmen trying to
get more federal bucks into their district.

The government is already involved (regulations and Medicare) and as for
my opinion, the government can do a pretty good job sometimes.

The insurance industry seems to be an unnecessary step in health care.
Why do we expect them to make a profit? What would happen if they
didn't exist?

capitalism is wonderful, but we don't expect the library or the fire
department to make a profit. Maybe health care is a service.

The founder of Craigslist went to talk to Wall Street a couple of years
ago. One of them asked Craig how he intended to "maximize his profit
stream." Craig told them he wasn't going to.

"I'm running a service, not a business." Maybe that is a good model for
a health care system.

Smart man, Craig.

It's the aerospace industry that brought you the $600 toilet seat and
the $300 hammer. Interestingly, carpenters buy titanium hammers for
almost $300 all the time.

Got a link for a $300 titanium hammer?

If you think that $27 Tylenol in the hospitial is expensive just wait
until the government gets a hold of all of the health care.

The "government" limits what it pays to a percentage of C&R, and no one
