Nice bike John, but that bike is too clean for me, besides I'd hate to
have to ride behind you all day getting blasted by the garlic wafting
out your exhaust pipes.
The link below has my 2009 Alaska bike ride. and just to keep on topic I
also took an unscheduled boat trip. UD

By golly, you've done it, and I haven't. I'd like to find someone
who'd be up for a trip to Alaska. I think the Guzzi would make it, but
I'd sure take some spare parts, cables, U-joint and bearing, etc.

Did you have any mechanical problems with that Beemer? Good looking
bike, even with all the dirt.

John, I don't see any reason why your bike couldn't make it. Guzzi'
aren't much dfferent than Beemers in respect to the drive train. As a
matter of fact I saw more of the newer type bikes broken down on the
side of the rode, Most of them were BMW's having computer malfunctions.
Thats what I like about my old airhead boxer.
I did have the output shaft bearing burnout on me, and had to cut my
trip short then limp into Skagway to take the Alaska Marine Hwy ferry
home, Although the trip was cut short I consider myself fortunate to
have been able to take the ride of a lifetime. So far anyway.
I'm going again next summer to finish the trip, and I'd be more than
happy to ride up with you.
Lots of Guzzi riders up my way too.

Thanks all!

Where's the trailer hitch ?

Hey, it's not a Gold Wing!

Everything I need fits on the bike, somewhere. It gets a little tight
if I'm taking the Mrs, and we're camping. Two up with a tent, sleeping
bags, thermarests, cooking gear, clothes, and Scooby can get a little
crowded.

And, how long would such a trip take? I'd think somewhere in the
neighborhood of four weeks or so. When I mapped it, I got this:

Driving directions to Anchorage, AK
4,316 mi – about 3 days 2 hours

Seems like Google doesn't allow much time for setting up camp,
sleeping, etc.

It's a trip I've always wanted to take, and have every intention of doing so
sometime in the future. It would make for an excellent photography ebook
upon return. But I have little interest in a two-wheel version of the trip.
For that kind of distance, I'd want a bit more comfort and the ability to
carry more gear and supplies. My GX470 would be just about perfect, as
would your 4runner.
