I bought a set of mooring whips (Monarch MMW I) at a garage sale.
How exactly do you use them? They are not (for some reason or other) used where I am, so I don't even have anything to look at. When you pull up to the dock and it's pouring down rain, the deck hands will be reluctant to go out and set the fenders, rig the lines, and perform their assigned chores during the landing. Nothing inspires quick cooperation like the judicious application of a mooring whip. Real answer: They enable your boat to "stand off" from the dock when you don't have any outboard pilings to tie to. |
