People don't inject marijuana into their veins but a lot of people die
because it is illegal.

so is murder. you wanna legalize that too?

You only have to look at "prohibition" to see the problem with banning
anything.

you're right. let's let all the rapists and murderers free

in your neighborhood

In real life the people who use the most ammo are not the ones who
cause the problem.-

risk/benefit calculation. value of guns: zero

cost to society of their use: billions.

I could say the same thing about golf, recreational boats or
motorcycles, what's your point?

ROFLMAO!! gee...i wasn't aware that golf widows were really widows!!

they should be banned.

Again, name me one thing that became unavailable because it was
banned? Just one.
All "banning" does is create a criminal enterprise to provide
something.-

fine. i'm willing to live with a small criminal enterprise instead of
the LARGE one we have now.

That is not a logical leap.

your argument is that making something illegal increases demand and is
ineffective at driving down the incidence of that event.

There is a significant difference between banning objects and making
violent crimes illegal.

violent crimes are banned. by your logic, everyone should be involved
in murder and rape because they're illegal. the only way to stop
murder is to legalize it.

fine. i'm willing to live with a small criminal enterprise instead of
the LARGE one we have now.

Why do you thing gun running would be a small enterprise?

because today we have 300,000,000 guns in the country. that volume of
business would gather some attention if it were illegal.

There is a lot of attention gathered by the drug business but that
doesn't stop it.
You still haven't said how you would make those disappear.

i already did. sorry you can't read

The idea that you could stop the import of ammo is ludicrous. The
world is awash in it from all of our military misadventures. You also
have the problem that the equipment to reload ammo is everywhere. Guys
will be dusting off their old Rock Chuckers and rolling their own.

fine. it takes 25 years to get rid of guns? so what?

None of this affects criminals. They don't use that much ammo. They
usually shoot people with the bullets that were in the gun when it was
stolen.

ah. stolen. from gun owners who are too irresponsible to control
access to their weapons

yes, i know that. that's another reason to ban guns. gun owners are
too irresponsible to have them.

BTW using your number (300,000,000) that makes cars more dangerous
than guns. 200,000,000 cars kill more people than 300,000,000 guns.
Maybe we should ban them too. (I know, the "green" people are trying)

cars have a use. guns dont

There are 200 year old guns out there, why would they go away in *25
years?

you saying we don't need gunsmiths? gee. i'll bet they're surprised at
that.

guns are mechanical. and they need service and repair. and spare
parts...

Like the cops and the US government?

really? when's the last time your average crook stole a cop's weapon?

You ignore the millions of military arms we (and the Soviets) *flooded
South America with in the various anti commie wars.
The guys bringing in the cocaine can just throw a few AKs and ARs on
the pile. The mere fact that the Mexicans are complaining about
"machine guns" takes the US out of the mix. We haven't made or
imported a legal machine gun for the civilian market since the Reagan
administration.

?? it's the easiest thing in the world to buy a machine gun. in
allentown, PA there's a guy who sells them, legally, out of his house
on 9th avenue. i've watched his 8 year daughter shoot a tommie gun...

cars have a use. guns dont

That is only because you don't believe in hunting and shooting sports.
There are probably as many people who don't believe in driving.-

really? i live in amish country. they're about the only folks who dont
drive

another of of your fairy tales

Hugh trees were named for botanist Sir Dudley Hugh. A rare mutation of
the chestnut, the blight wiped them out and they are all but
forgotten.

We bike on what is known locally as the American Chestnut Land Trust, a
spot of land originally established to protect a large chestnut tree.
The trust now has several thousand wooded acres.

There are efforts long underway in Maryland to try to grow American
chestnut trees, and there have been many efforts to try to clone a
blight-resistant variety. I remember a couple of chestnut trees in
fields behind where our house was in New Haven, and the pods in which
the chestnuts grew. I'm sure the trees are long-gone now. They were big,
beautiful trees with large leaves.
