That is absolutely spectacular! Being in an honors course puts the student in a peer group which is much more conducive to proper behavior and studying. To me, that is the main advantage of honors courses. Fight to keep her in there, even if she brings home a C every now and then. Remember her competition. She deserves a great pat on the back for that. -- John H absolutely agreed! All decisions, even those made by liberals, are the result of binary thinking. |

IIRC, it's always after Labor Day around here. Yep, started the 12th. I think my brother's kids start on the 18th or thereabouts. When I was in school, first day was always right before labor day.. that was then, this is now. It's Atlanta...they're making up for future snow days. |

Funny, but according to Harry, that can't be done if you like to do other things besides schoolwork like bike, camp, etc. In just three days she's adjusted well to the HUGE school she goes to. It's just the way she is! She's a big hit in her honors Spanish class, because it's really Spanish II there's a lot of sophomores, juniors, and a few seniors. She took high school Spanish I in middle school! Okay, done bragging! That is absolutely spectacular! She works hard, but some things come so easily for her it's kind of scary! We've always talked to our kids, sat with them at the table during homework. etc. Of course she still wants to be a fashion diva, etc.!!!! |

But she has to have that as her goal starting right now. That means getting involved in school activities like sports and student government. She's got the ability. Scroll down to the 'Bryanna Herring' article: http://www.bayweekly.com/year02/issueX02/leadX02.html There's one boo-boo in the article. Bryanna's father did not attend the Naval Academy. I believe he graduated from Univ of Portland, and then got his master's at Penn State. He became a Naval officer after UP, stayed in for about four years and then started work as an engineer for Johns Hopkins. He's now the Project Executive for the construction of the 15-story Dana-Farber Cancer In- stitute (DFCI) in Boston. Lots of folks here would think he's bad because he does quite well for himself financially. He's pretty smart too. http://tinyurl.com/m2pbat -- John H All decisions, even those made by liberals, are the result of binary thinking. |
