Hey, John, Tim, Scotty
I'm feeling old. My daughter started high school this week! I know Harry
won't be able to understand this, but at the end of middle school, the teachers assigned to place students unanimously voted for her to be eligible for all honors courses! Funny, but according to Harry, that can't be done if you like to do other things besides schoolwork like bike, camp, etc. In just three days she's adjusted well to the HUGE school she goes to. It's just the way she is! She's a big hit in her honors Spanish class, because it's really Spanish II there's a lot of sophomores, juniors, and a few seniors. She took high school Spanish I in middle school! Okay, done bragging! |

Really, that sucks.. I must admit, I hate it when school starts. I love spending the summers with my kids.;) Yes, exactly! Always a new routine, etc. Don't know why they start early here. I do know that they seem to get more time off during the year than I did. There's a spring break, a winter break, and maybe even a fall break. |

I believe he graduated from Univ of Portland, and then got his master's at Penn State. He became a Naval officer after UP, stayed in for about four years and then started work as an engineer for Johns Hopkins. He's now the Project Executive for the construction of the 15-story Dana-Farber Cancer In- stitute (DFCI) in Boston. Lots of folks here would think he's bad because he does quite well for himself financially. My daughter started high school this week! I know Harry won't be able to understand this, but at the end of middle school, the teachers assigned to place students unanimously voted for her to be eligible for all honors courses! Doesnt' hurt to brag where bragging is due, man. congratulations to her as well as yourself. you think you feel old now, wait till she's headed to college. then's when "old" starts to set in..... That's when the damned wallet kicks in!!!! I'll give her your thumbs up! Have her start thinking of West Point or Annapolis. The Academies give great educations. But she has to have that as her goal starting right now. That means getting involved in school activities like sports and student government. She's got the ability. Now it's all attitude. -- John H All decisions, even those made by liberals, are the result of binary thinking. She's already starting to think about after high school! Here's an article about my niece. If she could do it, your daughter can. (Well, maybe not the basketball bit.) Scroll down to the 'Bryanna Herring' article: http://www.bayweekly.com/year02/issueX02/leadX02.html Holy ****, that's real cool man.. Now she's a P-3 pilot, back over to Kuwait for the second time. -- John H All decisions, even those made by liberals, are the result of binary thinking. O man! She flies an Orion? Beyond cool!!!! Yup. She's done so for about three years now. We all don't think the Orion is that cool, given that the youngest one is older than hell. She's not going to continue with piloting though. Once she gets out of the Navy she plans to get into engineering. She'll probably go right into a masters of one engineering or another. -- John H All decisions, even those made by liberals, are the result of binary thinking. |

That's what's so Way Cool, is that though obviously still air worthy, she can fly that bucket 'o bolts, which tells me she could do well in a more modern aircraft. Engineering is great, but one thing she might wish to pursue is when she's out is to get and keep a twin engine ticket. After all she had the experience, and i believe can switch over easier than to take a re- course in civilian flight training . and that could be an ace for her. The old saying could apply.
