I'm feeling old. My daughter started high school this week! I know Harry
won't be able to understand this, but at the end of middle school, the
teachers assigned to place students unanimously voted for her to be
eligible for all honors courses! Funny, but according to Harry, that
can't be done if you like to do other things besides schoolwork like
bike, camp, etc. In just three days she's adjusted well to the HUGE
school she goes to. It's just the way she is! She's a big hit in her
honors Spanish class, because it's really Spanish II there's a lot of
sophomores, juniors, and a few seniors. She took high school Spanish I
in middle school! Okay, done bragging!

Man, that sucks. High School starting in the middle of Summer.

Yup, I don't understand it! When I lived in western NY as a kid, it was
getting cool and sometimes frost when we started back up!

My condolences to you. I am glad I do not have kids in high school anymore.
What with the politics and drugs, etc. Seems a lot worse for the neighbors
kids than when mine were in HS in the early 90's.

Yeah, it takes some talking and bonding to keep them grounded, that's
for sure!

That is absolutely spectacular!

Being in an honors course puts the student in a peer group which is
much more conducive to proper behavior and studying. To me, that is
the main advantage of honors courses. Fight to keep her in there, even
if she brings home a C every now and then. Remember her competition.

She deserves a great pat on the back for that.
